So glad I switched!
Got rid of those damn run-flats and replaced them with 255/35 & 285/30's on HRE FF01's (thanks Nate at Vibe Motorsport). Took a 200 mile round trip down the NYS Thruway today and the ride quality is 1000% better than stock. I should've spent this money 2 years ago. Those god damn run flats are loud and harsh and I'll never put them back on my car again if only because of the added cost differential. The car is quiet, rides smooth, you don't get jarred over the tiniest of imperfections and it's just a lot nicer feel through the wheel. I should have weighed the stock wheel/tire combo vs. what I replaced them with. Even with larger tires this set-up has to be 10-25 pounds lighter per corner. Nothing but positive things to say about this change. Those HRE's are pretty bad ass to look at too if I don't say so myself.

Nice looking on congrats on no more run flats! Thanks to others on the forum here and elsewhere I ditched my fun flats within 2 weeks of getting my new baby (didn't hurt that I blew both front run flats on a road issue making me curse run flats from experience vs. others info/opinions)
Here's what I went with (from stock 351m 19's) Wheels: Staggered Beyern Aviatics in gunmetal. 20x9's up front and 20x10's in the back. Tires: Continental ExtremeContact DWS 06 all seasons. 245/35 ZR20's in front and 274/30 ZR20's in back. |
