Loud Door Rattle After Closure
Everytime I close the driver door of my F06, I hear this loud rattle and I'm not sure what could be at fault here. Here's a video that captures the rattle:
https://www.dropbox.com/s/7x7b7uq9u2...attle.mp4?dl=0 Is this even fixable or would I need to replace the whole door? This problem just occured today for the first time and, from now on, it occurs every single time this door gets closed. Went shopping and once I got back into my car, the rattle started on its own... |

That sounds like the soft close gear/motor has given up the ghost, hence why you hear it every time you close the door. Fortunately, it can be replaced. I'm on my phone and don't have quick access to the part number, but if no one else has posted it, I will once home.

ebaylink I found this on bimmercat for the F06 650i xDrive (2013 version): https://bimmercat.com/bmw/en/search/...E4/ECE/51_8684 The lock complete left with soft-close system has the part number 51217276319 . I'm located in Europe so that ebay article, if it would fit my car, would be the best one since it costs the least. The original part from a licensed dealer costs about 400 Euro: https://www.leebmann24.de/catalog/pr...s-51215a36e47/ And it has a different part number, so that's a bit confusing. Which part number will fit right in without error messages? |

Unfortunately, Minacious is correct Expensive part if you have soft close, unless you source it on the secondary market or online e-commerce such as eBay
Here is the DIY, there are others, but this one is pretty comprehensive https://bit.ly/40ifZf7 part numbers vary by build, Here's the link for an example of the catalog sheet and part number for a 2014 F06 650 (part no. 2 on the sheet) https://bit.ly/3MZJFe0 Recommend you use real OEM with your particular VIN https://www.realoem.com/ Good luck! |

https://www.realoem.com/bmw/enUS/sho...diagId=51_8684 There are two categories: Comfort Access and Soft Close Automatic I take it i'm in the soft close automatic camp? Then the site tells me that part number 51217276319 is correct. Can anybody confirm this? Would you recommend buying strictly from an authorized dealer or could I buy any of these models and get away with it for much less money? https://www.autodoc.co.uk/spares-sea...1217276319+%09 |

do you have the ridges on the door handles? if so, you have comfort access. Which is separate from soft close:
comfort: https://bit.ly/3Aecegc soft close: https://bit.ly/41tcoft It's always best to go with OEM If you don't want to take a risk with an aftermarket, but I've ordered mine off eBay and autodoc with more successes than failures. Aftermarket parts are only as good as the builder, you might have gotten a builder who went on a bender the night before and quality check takes a hit. |

Comfort Access is just BMWs nomenclature for keyless entry and start. The soft close is what you are looking for. It looks like LA640WS picked up my slack.
I agree with LA640WS about Aftermarket vs OEM for this particular part. I definitely wouldn't go used on this item as there is no way to tell the wear to the gear. You might be 10 door closes from that gear wearing out too.
