2015 650xi GC oil type?
As my car is now out of the free service coverage from BMW, I will be bringing my car to a trusted local garage instead of paying BMW the very overpriced amounts they want for simple servicing.
Do you know what motor oil type and viscosity I should be buying for my '15 650 GC? I mainly do drives greater then 3-5 miles, with my office 15 miles from my house, if that information is useful. Thanks Last edited by MichaelInChicago; 06-18-2019 at 05:54 AM.. |

Although as a practical matter it probably makes no real difference, I tend to buy oils that meet the manufacturer's spec just so I feel better about myself. BMW's is called LL01 I think. Certain Castrol oils meet that and probably others. Do a search. I typically just buy BMW oil and do the change myself. As for viscosity, if you were go to the dealer counter and ask for oil for your car, they will give you 0W-30. A year ago they would have given you 5W-30, but they changed it.

I run Castrol 0w-40. Order it online at walmart.com. Two jugs ship free 2-Day.
