I'd like to understand more about why idling the car is not good. As a (relatively) new owner of a '13 model year with 36k miles, I want to be sure I adopt good habits. I'd be grateful for a reply via PM so we don't take the OP post off track.

This situation is bad. First I would take it back to the seller and ask them the real story. Not sure if there is a 30day refund at auctions. Also, if you really like the car get it fixed without spending an enormous amount. Lastly, get your warranty back! I wouldnt want to spend a dime on a practically new car. No warranty i would return the car whats the point?
