AeroFunction AF-1 Carbon Front Lip

Made a post a few months ago because I was looking for a carbon front lip for my M6. I don't like the V-Style which seems to be the most popular amongst brand name & replica/off-brand lips. Since my car is lowered on H&R Springs, I can't justify spending $800 for the Kholen Style from ******** and especially not $2k for the Vorsteiner GTS-V model.

Came across this lip from a member on here who saw it online but I don't know anyone else that's running it. Decided to bite the bullet and try it out. Obviously, it's not real carbon but I could care less about that. This piece is really thick because it actually goes up into the bottom of the bumper in the middle of the two outer "V" sections of the bumper.

I used self tapping screws and double sided adhesive which was extremely strong and did the job. Installation was super easy and I am thrilled with the look!

The only thing hotter than the Great State of Florida. With all the steep entry parking lots these days I would not install a real CF lip it is a smart and very good looking choice. I think I am partial to the AF2 lip and plan on picking one up in early August and will install it when I return along with my new mishimoto oil cooler.

I'm in SFL every so often, I live in Ocala and have family friends in Ft. Lauderdale but this car will probably never even leave Ocala lol, I don't drive it much. I'm 10 months into ownership and I've done 2,300 miles 😅

Trust me, I know it's nothing special or expensive. I paid less than a loaded Camry for it with 42k miles lol. I would simply get bored if I drove it all the time.

One of the things that keeps me from getting bored with mine is that I have a job that deploys me every 2 to 3 months for about the same duration away from home. I do drive it regularly and one of my favorite rides is across alligator alley then down to Key West. aided with night vision, radar and laser detection: I have run of the ship when we transit down at night. The return trip is usually during daytime. The views are great but the traffic, ugh.

When I get back home though it is like a new toy all over again.

Skirt extensions, diffuser, trunk lip..? What's on the wishlist?

And we MUST get the hottest M6's in Florida together.. let's plan something. Not me, though - I'm horrible at this, I just show up with beer.

Already has a factory trunk lip, and I like it in Alpine White. No plans for any other cosmetic mods other than maybe changing the tips that I got with my Soul PP exhaust (got it used with the satin slash tips and I prefer the polished round look) and the M6 badge in black. That finishes everything I want to do cosmetically

Carbon look, it actually surprised me how realistic it looks, it has a nice 3d depth to it.

I've got the same style one from rw-carbon but it didn't last long in NYC streets.

Mirza_7 I live in Ocala, FL a smaller city in Central FL where the roads are extremely smooth and I don't ever have any clearance issues, although with H&R Springs on stock wheel sizes, the lip's closest point to the ground is barely 3" of clearance. NYC is not kind to low cars, I'm from Queens lol

I ended up purchasing the AF-2 version and although the quality seems great (can't even tell it's not carbon fiber)… the fitment was off.

In the picture you can probably notice the left side is 'hanging lower' compared to the right side. Not too bad unless you stare for a min…

I emailed the company and they stated it may be a "defect and to try and adjust it with a screw in that area."
Like the shop or I didn't think of that already… Lol wasn't worth the trouble of escalating since it's not an expensive item.

But overall I'd still say it's worth the price.

Here's the long term update nobody asked for: it's still great! No discoloration, clearcoat issues or really anything else to speak of. Still can't recommend it enough for the price. Gets tons of compliments.

I noticed aero function makes the v style diffuser as well. The description says (CFP).. i wonder you have real carbon fiber?

Here's another update: 1.5 years in and it's starting to yellow a little and the clearcoat is starting to fade just a tad, but to be fair it did sit in the harsh FL sun the entire time (finally got a carport so she's out of the sun now). It's currently on sale for a little over $200 now which is a steal, I may just buy another if/when this one gets to the point where it doesn't look good.
