Carfax seized engine lemon

Hello all,

I was looking around today at M6s for sale. I came across one that has a seized engine lemon report:

I assume the engine was replaced, but can't confirm it. Assuming the engine was fully replaced, why was the odometer reset?

I don't see that the odometer was reset. As it should not be or ever be. Personally I would avoid this car at the current asking price. You will never get that flagged issue off of the vin.

Yeah - I wasn't thinking of buying the car - more just for my education.

No problem. Even if a motor is replaced it is illegal to reset an odometer. With a replaced motor there would still be the miles on the rest of the chassis.
