Brakes - Discs and Pads...

The time has come to change the brake pads on the car. Looking at the discs and considering they are the original discs that were on the car from new (4 years now) i'm thinking of changing the lot and starting fresh. Car has just hit 30k.

Brake fluid was changed in May 19 and will be done again May 21, which hopefully should be covered by the service plan (just).

I was thinking of going for EBC Yellow Stuff instead of the OE Textar or Pagid.

What's your thoughts on these?
What brakes/brand do you have on your car?

EBC Reds were recommended to me as a good alternative to OEM. Haven't put them on yet, should next week or so.

Love ebc reds, virtually no brake dust, the original BMW pads turn my wheels black almost instantly.

I've heard mix reviews about EBC yellows so might just go for OE replacements instead.

Been looking at Brembo for now but will see what else I can find

Just buy OEM from FCP Euro and you'll have lifetime brakes. They start making noise, send them back for another pair. Take them to the track and burn them up, send them back. Each and every time no questions asked.

Mentioned in another thread.
Since I've bought the car the front brakes were warped and shook during high speed braking.
I bought new pads and rotors didn't necessarily want drilled but I am happy with the results and low brake dust.

BMW use two piece rotors on these cars (as seen in the pic of the original rotor).

I prefer to use two piece rotors when I service the brakes. After all these cars are heavy and the rotors have to deal with a lot of heat and heat cycles. Especially if you drive a bit active.

Good results with EBC redstuff pads with regards to dust. But not suitable for track day use! (Experienced fading on the Nürburgring...)

deffo,,i will be going 2 piece disc's when i replace,,already looked at them from zimmerman,,will be a while as the ones on now are quite good,,and as i only do 6k miles a year in this car, will be later rather than sooner ha ha ,but will stick to yellowstuff also, edit,,just looked and i now cannot see zimmerman 2 peice,,weird,,have i been dreaming ?ebc direct have them,,very nice looking dark grey anti rust finish,,with 15% discount the fronts x 2 are £302,,thats not bad for 2 peice rotor's

How is the noise of redstuff vs. OEM or green stuff? Their braking performance and dusting is better but is their any squeal?

How would you compare the braking performance compared to OEM? My main goal is to find a pad that provides better performance with no noise, less dust, and lasts just about as long.

For daily driving and high speed autobahn driving it has a positive bite and feels very similar to the stock pads.

On the track it fades faster than stock pads in my (limited) experience with these pads on track (Nürburgring).
