BMW 650i GC 2015 Oil leak help

So I recently picked up my dream car with only 28k miles. The car has been serviced at bmw dealerships its whole life while the original owner was living in California. T
The panel/skid plate that's underneath the car is saturated with oil as I can see oil residue is near the oil filter/oil pressure sensor? I believe its a very small leak since no warning lights or sensors are going off and im constantly checking if the oil level is low which is not.
If anyone has gone through this or a thread has been made to address this issue please let me know because I just signed up here and im trying to get used to this.

There is oil residue near the top of the oil filter (near the threads of the filter since its installed downwards) and the sensor. I think the only thing causing this oil leak would be a faulty o ring that goes in before you install a oil filter. I recently got a oil change at the dealership and informed them of this oil leak, so highly doubt that techs at two different bmw dealership would install a faulty o ring twice, (once before I got the car and after I took it in for oil change since its still leaking oil). Or I was thinking a cracked oil pressure sensor that's shown right next to the oil filter? Or possibility of a cracked oil pan gasket.. but if this was the case, wouldnt the car be leaking a lot more oil which would trigger warning lights? I took the car in for oil change/service around 28.7 miles and im now at 30k
Its my first bmw and im not trying to take shortcuts maintaining this car since I have yet to have found a trusted indy shop

Given where the filter is you can get a fair amount of oil spilled under there just from an oil change. I recently reached in there and cleaned quite a mess from on top of the skid plate. What I would do first is confirm you actually have a leak. Go to the auto parts store or Wally Mart and buy this:

It will be way cheaper at Wally Mart. Put the spray tube on and spray the heck out of that whole area. It just dissolves oil, evaporates quickly, and won't hurt anything. Once you have that area cleaned up, look again in a couple days.

Before you dig too far into this, take a quick look at the condition of the engine vent lines/pipes on the top middle of the engine. (remove the pop off cover)

When mine initially cracked for some reason that’s exactly where the oil came down before it dropped on My garage floor.

Good point. I had never thought of that oil getting down there. OP, the breather lines, which cross over the top of the engine, are probably the old style on your car because they are on mine, which is a 2015. They are plastic accordion hoses that look like the covering they put over wiring. They get brittle and crack. The new ones are heavy duty rubber. They are now under warranty for 10 years/100,000 miles. When Walt (above) posted about his, I checked mine and they were still ok. Now they are not.

I just had mine done and changed to the more heavy duty rubber ones. My car is a 2015 LCI but didn't get the better rubber crankcase vent pipes. The accordion ones are pretty crap yes. Mine did start to leave visible oil on the rails they sat on and I even noticed drips onto the top of the righthand turbocharger. so that was enough for me, off to BMW to get them changed. In Australia this are not covered by warranty. I was lucky, my very good BMW team suggested I buy the updated CCV pipes at ECS in the the US at much more reasonable prices than what BMW Australia would charge me. so I did and within a week they were shipped out and my dealership actually fitted them for free! great service actually.
so yes I would check to see if its your CCvPipes cracked and leaking oil …

So I think im replying to this post correctly? haha well I did what you said and took the plastic cover off and noticed this on the driver side. would you say this is the source of the leak? its just weird to me because if I remember correctly, the oil filter is located towards the passenger side of the car. But then again the skid plate was just saturated in oil on both passenger/driver side and when I took the skid plate/panel off, I noticed the leak was accumulating on the ground of the driver side.. Hmm, I have an appointment with BMW this upcoming Tuesday so I will mention this to them..

That definitely looks like it's leaking. I believe that is : Vent Pipe 111066 - BMW (11-15-8-647-961) which was replaced under warranty along with : Connecting Line 111060 - BMW (11-15-8-647-299) which was completely cracked at the bottom but it wasn't noticeable until they removed it. (the warranty that was honored was part of the additional coverage that BMW called a "limited warranty extension." I was outside of normal warranty coverage)

I also had another leak: BMW 13-90-7-636-157 Fuel Tank Ventilation Valve
This one was not part of the published warranty extension, but BMW took care of it as well. I had the exact same oil issue you've described.

Did you have oil leaking from three different spots then? Also where is the fuel tank ventilation valve located? Thank you in advance!! Life & money saver

In my situation the leak(s) were all coming down over and around the oil filter housing area, I was convinced that the filter housing was leaking, but a dye test confirmed it was not and the parts I mentioned were leaking. Unfortunately there are many cheap plastic vent and vacuum lines on these BMW's, in fairness my Mini, Porsche(s) and Mercede(s) have all had very similar cheap lines with the same results.

The Right Side Fuel Tank Ventilation Valve was below the right Turbo (number 2 in attachment):

Thanks so much. I thought I had seen this posted before. I am certainly going to circle back with the service dept.
looks to me like I got suckered in to paying for this, when it should have been covered. Weird thing is, I even asked if BMW would help defray the cost.

It seems to be a standard practice with many service managers to try and deny coverage. I wouldn't be surprised if they charge the owner and then bill BMW under the warranty. You have to be informed and this site and members really helps keep people informed.

UPDATE:
I got a hold of the extended warranty document, my car falls outside of the production dates covered by the warranty extension. Mine was produced 3 months after the end of the covered period. The replacement parts that went in to my car, are the specified replacement parts in the warranty extension.
I went back to the service dept and spoke with the manager. He said that there is nothing they can do, because my car falls outside of the covered dates. He suggested contacting BMWNA customer service.
I called BMW and gave my story. They assigned it to an "escalations specialist".
We spoke several times. My point of view is that the original parts in my car began to fail at 26,000 miles, and they were replaced by the "upgraded parts". Seems to me that even though my car falls outside of BMW's production date range, the original parts on my car were likely the parts that are prone to early failure. There is no way for me to prove this now, as I did not get the failed parts back when I had my repair done.
I was able to forward a video that the repair tech made, showing where oil was beginning to leak, but that did not change the outcome.
BMW ultimately decided to deny my request for reimbursement, saying that if the repair had not already been completed, they would be in a better position to help.

I am disappointed in BMW, but understand their position. I am really disappointed in my SA at the dealership for not being a better advocate. The tech who found the leak knew that this was a common problem with these engines. The SA could have advised me of the extended warranty for this issue and urged me to contact BMW prior to having it repaired.

This is all a first world problem, and easy to shrug off. Expensive cars, expensive repairs. I will likely switch dealers for service and see how that goes. Also thinking of getting out of this car (and brand), and in to a Porsche Cayenne Coupe. I am under no illusion that Porsche vehicles are problem free- but they do drive nice. Wifey has a Macan GTS, and that thing rides and handles impressively well.
