Has anyone had or any experience of having the Alpina Gearbox Update put onto their car?

I've been thinking about this for a while and started to look more into this. Alot of people have had it done who have the N57 engines in their cars.

The gearbox as it is, is great but if there's more to be had from it then i'm all for it. Think it would be quite good with the remap.

From what i've read and seen, it:

- Changes gear slightly smoother & quicker
- Shows what gear you are in D1,D2,D3 etc...
- Goes into S8 and doesn't stop at S7
- Achieves slight better mpg (i'm not that fussed)
- Lasts longer in manual mode
- More sporty feel

Coders are charging around £90 or so which is quite tempting.

I've also seen that XHP do a flash too - but I need to do more research on theirs.

a main advantage with xHP Is you can try out different stage maps to your preference. XHP is awesome!

Will be hard to get data on real experience with both though I reckon.

I’m sure you’ll enjoy either. Alpina seems way cheaper, so there’s that.

I flashed xHP on my x3 n55, most aggressive (I think stage 3?) but don’t see myself ever taking it back to stock or any other flash, it just works and works well. Comfort mode is as it should be, and more aggressive in sport and then sport +

Thanks for that

A few on the F30 forum have mentioned that XHP, in sport mode - 8th gear only works when around the 90mph mark.

Stock and Alpina will let you use 8th gear in sport mode at cruising speeds (60-70mph)

Have you found that?

Contacted Simon from Bavarian Coding at 4pm... 9.45pm he's starting work on the car!

Left a little while ago after doing the following:

Alpina Gearbox Flash
Apply Car Play
2020-2 Nav Update
ID6 Update
Active Sound Update

What a guy - really knows his stuff and had a good chat talking all things cars!

Awesome!

I’ll try out 60-70 in sport and sport+ and let you know... but I think it might only be holding lower gear in sport+, or sport-shift modes.

Did your 2016 have option for Apple CarPlay from factory?

Mind sharing what your quote was for all those? Or is he including everything else along with the Alpina Flash?

How do you get the Alpina flash? Is it simply adding the 9XA in your VO and coding EGS or is is it a complete flash of EGS (or GWS, or both). I have e-sys with latest datens and would like to try it. (have a 550 though)

Hey bud, I'm not sure of the techincal bits but I know it was software coding.

Bavarian Coding came to out to me to do this while coding a few other bits too (car play, idrive 6 and 2020-2 nav maps).

I know some have self coded the flash but I'm not that confident doing things on that level. Bimmercode is where I draw the line!
