Telematics Battery - Where is it?
I need help. I am getting SOS Emergency call system malfunction in my 2014 M6 F12 convertible. I figured i would try to replace the battery in the telematics box as a first step however i cant find the damn thing. Does anyone know where it is on an f12 convertible? I have taken the floor apart and left side carpet in trunk and didnt find it. Real OEM shows in trunk area but cant find this thing.

I thought that battery is only used if the main car battery is disabled in an accident to make an emergency call.

You found it...but the location is also shown if you use the TIS website. The location (and FUB aka functional description) was found by typing “telematic control unit” into the search bos...the TCU is listed as A231 in the schematics:

I know there is a big issue with these on the light bmw suvs. I think they attempt a software update first. If that fails. I think they replace the unit. If you are out of warranty. Code out the sos function. That is if you do not care about the sos function.
