tire recommendations

Hey guys i want to know about this setup
i am on stock wheels [ 2013 m6 GC ] and i can get the following combination.
275/35/20 front - Michelin pilot super sport
305/30/20 back - Michelin pilot sport cup2 OR
305/30/20 back - Michelin pilot super k3

my uses will be mostly on the road [ quite a rough road where i live all around ] i need traction to beat some wannabe's off a traffic light [ cmon we have an M6! ] and maybe a track day once in a blue moon.
i dont care about tire noise, just need traction off the line mostly and a little bit comfort [ will not kill me if its rough i dont mind]
thanks for the help guys!

P.S i also thought about the Michelin sport 4s but i will need to order them and it will take about a month to get here. the tires above are available now.

I run 275/35/20 and 305/30/20 Sport 4S on factory rims. I only have about 500 miles on this new set (32k miles on original tires). Haven't really pushed them to the limit yet, but there is really good rear traction with the 305s, considering all of the torque demand on 2 wheels. I would seriously consider waiting the month to get them. I'm not sure how I feel about mixing tire types front/rear.

Do you have an pictures of the tires on the car? I am curious about the clearance and tire profile/exposure. thank you in advance.

I wouldn't mix front and rear axle tyres... Cup 2 is great for traction - after the tyres have warmed up, but cold tyre traction is sad... I would order PS4S and wait the month, will be worth it. 265 (standard) front and 305 rear, best of both worlds.

I agree with MelborneFinn, except I would go 275 front if you are going 305 rear. Staying 265 will create a slight understeer situation and the rolling diameters are closer between front and back if you go 275 and 305 (265 fronts will be too short).

Guys thank you so much for the advice. i think it is agreed among everyone to take the ps4s. sadly will have to wait for about a month but after doing research and hearing your advice it'll be worth it.
thanks again.

Hi Guys, I have just read this thread. - https://f10.m5post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1390088 -
Some people say you need spacers and some dont, anyone here that has been running ps4s 305 rear for a relevantly long time and could say that there is no rubbing?
Also, In case there is a need for spacers, will the OEM bolts do?

I am running 315 on OEM wheels and I can assure you no rubbing at all.

I have 305's with no spacers, no where close to rubbing.

I just put on the PS 4S on all 4 stock wheels. 275 front 305 rear. There is no rubbing and god coming from P-Zero's these are amazing.

Stage 2 tune, dp and intake and in the summer I'm gripping.

Sorry guys, I'm new to an M6 myself and also in the market for new tires. I have the OEM 20" wheels.

My door panel reads:
Front 265/35 ZR 20
Rear 295/30 ZR 20

I'm reading this thread and it seems I can go 275/35 ZR20 for Fronts and 305/30 ZR20 for Rears without any issues?

Sorry if this is a dumb question but doesn't the aspect ratio also need to change if the tire width changes to maintain "equilibrium"?

Those are the sizes you want. They get the rolling diameters as close as you can get them, in tire sizes that are readily available, and fit.

But both front and rear have +10 widths from what is recommended on door panel. Does that not cause any problems?

^ Wondering that too with the stock 20 inch 343M rims, if it works, might be worth swapping Pilot Super Sports for 4S?

Just curious but why would you want to get 275/305 section tires as opposed to the OEM 265/295? We are talking about a less than 4% increase in tire width offset by a little more weight. I'm not sure what sort of performance advantage you would notice even during spirited street driving.

I'm not sure what sort of performance advantage people notice with carbon fiber mirror caps or front splitter. But here we are...

contact patch area is an X(Y) problem, a few mm of width does actually make a difference. You can put +10 tires on factory rims, no spacers, no rubbing, no changing suspension geometries. I would bet that there is a larger difference in the gain from tire width than the loss from tire weight.

Also, wider section width gives you more rubber overhang and less likely to curb rash the rim, assuming you are into that kind of thing too.

305 rear 275 front's ps4s ordered, thank you so much guys!

Was wondering something, Could a linear power delivery when accelerating have something to do with the tires?
i just recently bought the car and the tires it came with are some cheap crap Chinese with 0 traction [literately].

When i accelerate hard [no matter from what speed] you get this uneven and not smooth power delivery its like the engine is tuning itself down on purpose [ and no its not traction control ]
i did coils \ plugs last week issue still there.
some guy in the m5 forum said it could be maf\o2 sensor i will try that out but i was wondering if the tires could have anything to do with it?

Yeah not saying the +10mm of section width will hurt, it'll definitely be a benefit but not worth it if the extra diameter will cause issues with rubbing or the suspension. But as you say if it's safe to go with +10 on the factory rims without any of those issues, then why not.

Is this with traction control in MDM or all the way off?

traction control fully on [ still affraid to turn it off\partially off due to these tires i have now] car is in the sportiest settings besides the traction. but i do not see any intervention in the dashboard that the traction control kicks in.
you think it has something to do with it?

Hmm, there is no such thing as linear power delivery in our cars... The twin turbo V8 has a massive torque surge very low, that can hardly be considered linear... and that torque surge is what kills traction in our cars...
