I do however understand the cross shopping of what you like regardless of the class of car. If that's the case then please disregard my comment above. Who says you have to shop or one class of car when you're purchasing in this or any price range. |

Wait one year after the car's debut and you can probably get it close to invoice, with an introductory price like that. At least, that's the way it was for the E9XM.

Prices rising are inevitable. I saw that a semi-loaded 2012 650i vert was over $100k at the dealers, that used to be M6 pricing.
The new 911S is pushing the same price. Hell, the GT-R Black Edition is over $100k already. I was expecting the M6 to ring in at at least $125k and I'm not surprised. This isn't going to stop me from buying a new one. |

Is the new M6 worth it? Let's take a look.... VS 911. The M6 is a bigger car than the new 911 Vert and is more of a GT car etc.so it's not a very even comparison. But in terms of quality/style I think it is very close if not equal. More importantly it beats the XKR hands down which was NOT the case with the previous Gen.... VS Vantage. Here where it gets tougher. The Vantage has waaaaay more cachet and exoticness but in terms of interior quality is about even and performance is less. AND a new Vantage Vert is still more money. BUT, a used Vantage Vert would be closer to an M6 in price..........so who wins? For me, the Vantage because it is an Aston and it IS more exotic than an M6, but the gap is closing....... VS SL63/65 Again not quite fair as the SL only really has two seats but in terms of looks the M6 blows the new SL with its' "fishbowl" headlights out of the water and interior quality is the same- although the Merc interior design is retro vs the M6's more modern look... VS Jag XKR Closest rival but the new M6 is soooooo much better. Performance-better. Interior quality-better. Exterior design-better. Unless you're a Jag nut the new M6 beats it solidly which by the way is what BMW was after to begin with- not Aston or Porsche.... I would say in the US a 120K price max for the M6 Vert would be ideal but since BMW knows China and Russia will pay waaaaaay more than you can probably expect close to 130k for a Vert easily.... Based on all this despite the price the M6 is the winner. Only Aston is better but this is not a huge gap since the Vantage is visually a smaller car. Truly a fair comparo would be versus an Aston DB9 and then you are talking about a 100-150k difference in price at that point. Would I take an 06/08 DB9 over a new M6- very, very tough choice.... |

I wouldn't compare the M6 to the XKR, but rather the XKR-S. The XKR-S itself is slow and expensive. The M6 blows it out of the water. The SL63/SL65, man, MB has priced the SL63 at almost $150k. AND the M6 is still a lot faster. The M6 is a GT like the Continental GT and it's significantly cheaper. I wouldn't take a 911 Carrerra S over an M6. M6 wins in it's "range". |

Totally think this is priced right for the performance and market it serves. My only concern from BMW is that this is a shared platform car (640,650,etc) I really think that at that price point people are buying the car just as much as the badge/exclusivity and what made the last M6 "special" was the V10 and carbon fibre roof. Will have to wait for the reviews to get some good feedback on this car.

it's like the SL63 AMG and E63 AMG. you could buy an SL550, but it's still pretty costly, to the untrained eye, they look similar. with the E, you could buy an E350 and to the untrained eye, they look similar. this isn't like an R8 or an Aston, but I think it's better an a 911. either way, kudos to BMW. I wish they let M have at it with the i8. |

M6 is a 6-series with a big engine and two more exhaust pipes. Come on.

"It is f*cking gorgeous inside and out. One of best looking cars ever made. It has never been the fastest. But it looks the best and sounds amazing." So essentially what you are saying is that the Aston is better because it looks nice to you and because its an Aston ... |

So this is going to be $15k - $25k more than a CLS63 AMG? Add in the performance package and it's still $8k to $18k more! Same size cars and both 4 door coupes. So is the M6 really worth 15-25% more?

It's funny to me the amount of people who complain about paying $120+ for a top daily driveable BWW but in the same breathe would pay more for an less reliable weekend driven garage queens...
Is it the brand perception of these "better" cars or is it the look at me bling factor that you're willing to spend more on and get less ? |

I've never owned a supercar, but hypothetically if I were willing to spend what I consider supercar money, I would want a supercar. I just can't justify spending that much money on a vehicle that would get lost in my garage at work, so yes, maybe "bling factor" has something to do with it. If I'm gonna splurge on a car I'd rather do it on something "uncommon", I guess you could say.
