Extended Warranty Rejection

I just got word that my 2014 M6 Gran Coupe 1200 Mile M service was not done until 8k miles by the previous owner and my BMW extended warranty sign up has been rejected. The advisor said that they have filed an exception. I should know something on Monday.

:-(

What should I do if I am indeed rejected?

What you want to do? Sell the car? Sue the pre-owner? From where did you bought the car? BMW dealer or privat? If dealer he should mention it on the other hand you didn’t check the service Intervalls when you bought the car?

I checked the intervals and it was done around 8k miles however, I didn't know at the time that the extended warranty approval was contingent on the 1200 mile m service.

If they want to reject something they just pretend that even 500miles overdue is the reason. Don’t worry we don’t even get the extended warranty. You maybe lucky and your stealer get it through if the car was maintained at his shop.

You will never get the BMW warranty (they only give 500 +/- on the 1200 mile service. There are other warranties available. My 134 has had 4 warranty claims this year including on in August that had 3k in parts alone, so the warranty more than paid for itself.

There you can state your claim. Its not fair to you.
I know someone who bought a used low mileage F82 M4 recently.
Vehicle has 100K factory warranty purchased from original owner.
Long story short; check engine light came on. He took it into the dealer and they noticed the ECU has a performance tune.
They flagged the VIN and declined to work on the car under warranty.
He declined to pay for diagnostic and is currently talking with BMW NA to see what is needed to get his factory warranty reinstated since he had no idea there was a tune on the car.

"There you can state your claim. Its not fair to you." Why is it not fair. The buyer of a used car can check proper service before purchase. I declined a used car buy exactly for this reason. BMW knows that cars that have not had this service are more likely to have a warranty claim, so they would prefer not to cover. Its not like they took his money and then declined. As for the ecu tune, if the tune caused the problem then they do not have to cover. The buyer should have asked the seller, and if the seller lied then depending on the laws of the state, the buyer may have a claim.

This is correct.

BMW won't sell you a CPO or extended warranty with this missed break-in service on the record.

but this is a completely different situation. We all know BMW doesn't check for modifications done to the DME before making a car CPO or giving extended warranty.

But I know for a fact, the one thing they check is whether the break-in service was done on time. It has been emphasized many times by the service advisor and finance office when I inquired about buying extended warranty for all 3 of my BMWs

I may not understand your comment about BMW not checking the car.
54 local BMW dealerships to me here in southern California inspect the vehicles for any indication of modifications.
2 clients of mine could not return the vehicle to BMW to be honored as a certified pre-own due to suspension and other performance parts that were removed. They were both simply told "we confirmed you had aftermarket parts and can not certify the car" etc..
They both took the cars to CarMax to be purchased.
I know this is completely different and apologize for going off track of the original post

I didn't ask if they were going to reject it.

I have easycare on my m6 and had it on my old 335i that was heavily modified. They are super easy to work with, and I never had any problems with claims. My m6 is currently CPO, but I modified it knowing I have the aftermarket warranty if anything catastrophic happens *knock on wood*.
