Recalls aren't really reliability issue. They were safety and design issue.

Lexus reliability is a moot point when compared to German vehicles? That's laughable even these days when everyone is stepping up their quality. Lexus may use a lot of older technology and engineering, and you may not like their styling but to say they are on par reliability wise with big G-3 is not correct.

JD Power is total BS. Honestly if you can say that Volkswagen has close to the same reliability as Lexus (do it with a straight face) I'll be the first to shake your hand. I've had several Toyota/Lexus vehicles and several (recent) VAG group vehicles, and I'm sorry but they are not there. Either is BMW but they are getting better. Porsche has always been high on that list so no big surprise there.

At least my opinion is coming from owning several of them and several German cars...not a buddy that has one and it seems unreliable.

How do my "actions" prove your point? Both of my IS's never had any issues whatsoever. In my last few years owning Audi and BMW I've never spent so much time in service at the dealerships...for me that's okay because again the level of engagement and sport is much higher (but that has nothing and says nothing about quality).

You deleted your post that was supposed to prove me wrong? Haha I guess you realized that the source you linked showed the 3 Series of the same year to have 4 times the amount of TSBs/recalls etc. Funny.

267 TSIB. These are well known issues that are directly from Lexus not from consumers. I thought you said it has 0 problems?

BTW, where is the 4x TSB? 187 for a 2017 M3. I don't even see an option for 2018 M3. https://www.carcomplaints.com/BMW/M3/2017/tsbs/

Can we all just agree that neither BMW nor Lexus are doing the automotive world any favors with the grille designs they're currently pushing in our faces?
The Lexus gives me flashbacks to this thing when I see it coming at me. (And I don't wanna get in trouble over the BMW version) |

First 3 years of ownership I also wouldn't worry about any car as worst case is the manufacturer fixes it. The "I had an "X" and it wasn't reliable isn't a valid study. If given the option in two 5-10 year old used cars with dependability being the criteria virtually everyone would choose the Lexus over a BMW.

Every time I see the front grill on a Lexus I'm thinking of someone with braces with mouth being stretched open wide by a dentist.
That is not the sort of image you want for a brand. I still think the ugly, oversize kidneys on front of the new BMW looks better than the Lexus front grill. Last edited by mousefarmer; 10-05-2020 at 10:07 AM.. |

Oh and real quick. My 2018 340i has had less reliability issues than my 2017 IS350 through the same amount of miles.
