Center console USB charging power?

Does anyone know what amperage the center console USB port is supposed to support? Mine seems very very weak. As in, if I am using Waze and/or pandora to stream music it barely charges. Basically just keeps the iphone battery level stable. I have the exec package, B&O sound, and the option for phone/audio connections.

I don't know what the rating is but it does charge my iPhone faster than a 1 amp output on a battery bank. I'd guess around 1.5a

Maybe call me a bit of a weirdo but I'm ok with slow charging as I feel it will help with long term battery health.

What year is your car? I'm thinking there may also be a difference in some years, ie the earlier cars with the small idrive know might be different to later ones with the big dial you can scribble on, then the LCI cars might be different again!

I have a 2013 M6. 500ma seems about right I think. Major bummer, as most "modern" phones are going to need more than that to actually charge while running apps. Wonder if there is a way to modify....

Thanks!

Yeah it's garbage, won't even charge my iPhone pro max. I use the outlet next to it with an adapter.

Ditto AccordTR...get a short USB adapter (#1 or #2 in diagram) and use the 12 volt socket on the center console:

Yea same deal with mine. Glad I'm not alone. They have a cool retro mod with wireless charger that replaces the cup holder lid. Can barely notice the difference but ads a nice modern feature
