Every time I start the car. M550d ? What’s this stand for?

The M550d is referring to the 5 Series model i.e. the top of the line diesel 5 Series. Given your driving a 6er means this has been coded on to your digital cockpit display presumably by a previous owner.

Yeah, it was coded. People try to code it to have it say M6 or maybe just M and it defaults to that. There are a few posts about it.

And I'm guessing if the prior owner coded that, you have other things coded. As I recall, some people who coded that M550d logo accidentally had some trouble getting it to switch back, which may explain why you still have it. If you search the forum for words like cluster or code and 550d you ought to be able to find those threads.
