newtis.info Shutdown

https://www.newtis.info/ has been shutdown by BMW. This site was great for the DIY person and was the best site for finding instruction on repairing your BMW.

Wow, 2020 continues its march. The BMW site is ridiculously expensive. Does anybody know if it's the kind of site where you can pay the one-day fee and download everything for your car? I've done that for other cars. If not, what are the alternatives?

I think if you have the ISTA software...you have access to the info the TIS website was providing. And if memory serves me correct...there may be zipped files out there on the interwebs for free downloads of ISTA...the only costs might be purchasing the cables required to hook up to your BMW.

I had thought that the ISTA download was for cars up to like 2010, but not sure why I say that. I've looked at a few other forums where the alarm bells have also sounded and so far I have not seen a definitive "do this" solution. So far they are all of the "I think" variety.

Hi, the BMW software list is exhaustive, but INPA was the old diagnostic tool, TIS the repair instructions and both are now covered in ISTA-D, which also has data for the 6er.

Thanks. Everything I've read so far about ISTA makes it sound very daunting to somebody like me with more rudimentary computer skills. Like you need to set up a virtual machine running a different operating system, that's its complex to use even if you figure out how to use it, and searching in it is difficult and slow. But I'm somewhat guessing because I've not seen a "how to" that's written in plain English. Like most things computer related, people who post about ISTA write using the lingo and acronyms that assume the reader already understands what they are saying. To me it's half English half Swahili.
