Door lock actuator

The lock motor in my passenger door decided to burn up (possibly due to bad door handle). After having difficulty finding a used part ($500 new) and me being insane I decided to replace just the motor to see if it would work. After soldering and cutting and JB weld I managed to fix the lock motor.

Flying blind into this process I probably managed to break something (the lock is not designed to be opened easily). Now my inside door handle doesn't work, after a few tries I got the door to latch, outside door handle was working but doesn't want to work anymore. Soft close was acting strange and not really working right.

I can probably fix all of these things if I put more time in to this but at this point if I remove this one more time it's getting replaced.

Does anyone know of a source for a soft close door lock actuator for a F06?

Sorry I can't help you out with your question. But my passenger lock/unlock recently stopped working. First it was the passenger side comfort access not working and now it won't lock/unlock. Is this a common issue with our cars?

$100k car and they can't get the most simple things right. Comfort access is a pretty easy fix, the door handles are one torx screw and two plugs and it's off.

I'm kinda curious if I can throw a non soft close actuator in there and have it work. The passengers are just going to slam the door anyways and I'm tired of lecturing them about soft close.

First I had a problem with remote locking. Dealer fixed. Then had a problem with Soft Close after that was fixed. Dealer ended up replacing door latch and handle under Warranty.

I think my passenger comfort access not working currently burned out the lock motor as well. Passenger door doesn't lock/unlock through remote fob center button. I can manually lock/unlock door.

Is it just the lock motor or could it be other things? Any tips on replacing? I want to have everything right before I dive in.

Thanks!

Inside the actuator is pretty complicated and plastic. If I were to do it again this is what I would do.

First buy a non soft close actuator from rock auto for $60. Since you're harvesting it for parts this should also give you a chance to practice opening the unit without breaking anything

To open you have to grind off a stud that runs through the module, unscrew a tiny allen screw (I didn't see this and broke it) and bend up a metal tab.

The non soft close actuator should have the same lock motor and honestly it seems like the locking half would be identical. It is pretty much a plastic cassette that pulls out where you'd swap the motor.

The cable routing is important for the door handles, maybe I broke my bowden cable and that's why I'm having trouble now.

Also getting the actuator out of the door is a real bitch. TIS says remove the glass but I just loosened the rail and was able to squeeze around the window actuator.

This video kinda gives you insight into what is going on in there but the guy gives terrible instructions and I doubt his even worked out

If you really want to be cheap I can give you the other motor I have that you can rig to work. If you decided to buy a new OEM one, I'd be glad to take your old one off your hands to try again at making it work.

PM me and I can give you more details

There are two sensors in the latch. One for locking and one for Soft Close. Coded specific to vehicle I believe.
