Anybody ever had a TPMS sensor go bad? I suspect that if it does, the car would let us know?

See info below captured from the TIS website (prior to BMW AG shutting the "free" version down). Under the heading DIAGNOSIS INSTRUCTIONS FOR THE WHEEL ELECTRONICS...look for the 3 things "bulleted" that occur when there's an electronic malfunction in the system (sensor has a dead battery etc):

Mine failed this year,
Replaced under warranty, but parts is about 360 euro and is plug and play
