What do you think about this 650i?

This is available at my local bmw as a cpo until 6/2023.

I know prices are high, and selling my 2018 Rubicon for near what I paid for it.

I'm not sure what comments you are looking for beyond the price. It's nearly new, so it's not likely to have any issues for a long time. My 2015 had nearly the same miles 3 years ago when I got it CPO and I paid $58,000 something. So while that price is high, it's not grossly so, especially is if there is some room to come down.

The car itself is typically optioned, although not highly optioned. It does not have the B&O sound system, "massaging" seats, night vision, adaptive cruise control, and most likely not Adaptive Drive with active sway bars (ARS).

Since it's local, my question is are you making any compromises because of that? In other words, do you really like black sapphire and brown leather or are you settling for it because it's local? These cars are rare enough and buying one is special enough that I personally won't settle for local unless I actually love it. Nor will I ship a car. Going to where it is and driving it home is half the fun. Luckily my 650 was only 550 miles away - by far the closest I've bought a car in quite a while.

Since its a 2018…you may want to ask if they have (or will) update the car to the 4G platform.

See the bullets at the top of the 3G sunset info below…if the car only has 3G…then you will be losing all of those services in the bullets in 2022:

Nice car, but for the same $ you could have my Alpina B6. I realize that it’s different than a vert, but has a usable back seat, more trunk space, more options, same mileage, more hp/torque, and more luxury. I prefer a solid roof, but to each his own!

For that price, you can buy a 2016/17 M6 with that same given mileage. Check out Century West BMW.

Not sure why the assumption appears to be that a B6 or M6 is a better choice than a convertible simply because one can be had for the same or lesser price. If it meant giving up my convertible I literally would not take a B6 or M6 if they were free.

I didn’t say, or assume, a B6 was a better car simply because it can be had for that same price. You have twisted my words. It is a different 6 series car, with different features, for that same price. To each their own!

In my opinion all used cars are at least 20% over priced at the moment and probably will be through the end of the year. That three year old 650 with that many miles should IMHO be at least $10k less. At least. I’m jonesing for a new car myself, but have decided to wait until sanity returns to used car prices.

It will. I read several articles that state that the used car prices have actually added to national inflation! They also explain why - chip shortage - Covid factory closures, etc. - and assure that the falsely inflated prices will return to normal sometime after the new year.

While used car prices are up considerably, 30% in some markets, you can expect a much higher price on your trade-in. It's all relative - same as the housing market here.

Night vision is available for, probably, 5-10% of 650. So it does not worth to be claimed as an option for fully loaded. Rather as an exception.

It looks like a fine 650 vert, and fairly well appointed regardless of 3G, overheated used car market, the absence of "massaging seats" etc., etc.... Yeesh

Wow, I think that is a beautiful car. Go for it. A few points. First, the 2018 MY is the last year in which the 650 looks both elegant and fast. The new 650 is a joke, imho. Second, you will not miss the so-called massaging seats. I have had them in two 650s, and they are s-o-o-o lousy. Yes, I can feel a little push on my rear end every now and again, but that's it. Third, the auto cruise or whatever it is called is great - I love it - but it is not something I could not live without. Regular cruise control is fine. This is because often, even when using the auto cruise, I find myself taking control to, for example, shoot a gap in traffic. Absolutely love that very rare color combination.

As an owner of the one with massage seats, I would say that they are better than night vision)))
