Black Kidneys, or keep Chrome?

What do you guys think? I am contemplating the idea of ordering the IND gloss black kidneys, and matching rear emblem.

Also, just had the car paint corrected and ceramic coated! Some gratuitous pics below.

I'm actually torn on this myself. I think it depends on your color. For silver cars, i think OEM chrome looks best. I have a white car, so I decided to do the black-white contrast.

Do you like the blacked out look on black car? The chrome contrast looks good on a black IMO, as your headlight housing and wheels are shiny

I think the black on black on black look is played out. If you are going to do that, you really should black out everything, including those gorgeous wheels, which would be criminal.

My thoughts - embrace some chrome! If I were you, i would paint the outer rim of those kidneys gloss black but leave the vertical pieces chrome - see how that works.

I say just leave it be.

BTW, those 433 wheels, for the 2017 model year is offered ONLY in gloss black.

Thats just like mine, we must be the only 2 on here with Black Sapphire, personally I would leave as is the chrome breaks the front up nicely with the black exterior

Black all day. Makes the front of the car look cleaner and much more aggressive. Get gloss black so it matches your car and outside trim

what a terrible idea that was. You lose all the detail!

Definitely not a fan of a fully blacked out car. The 433 wheels are too pretty to powder coat fully. Need to find that played out lambo door meme, with a Gallardo and a Honda lol.

Can't agree more, blacked out is played out . Not sure how I'd feel about chrome verticals. Any pics?

Beautiful! Are you running spacers?

That's why I'm torn, because I agree the gloss black kidneys really make it more aggressive. I'd do those, plus the rear badge leaving everything else alone.

Nope - no pictures - I'm not sure anyone makes one, so it would be unique. Look would be similar to the m performance kidneys for 6 series. Black surround and black verticals, but leading edge is chrome. Looks so much better than the giant chrome stock kidneys, but not just another blacked out car.

So instead of the top picture, you get the bottom.

Subtle, but sinister.

I bought the OEM black ones on ebay, and think it looks great on my Sapphire coupe.

Also ended up doing the side markers and F/R reflectors from IND. I think they have a package for everything that might save you a little cash

Hey, my dealer just received my 2018 M6.... no gloss black 433 rims! they look exactly the same as privious years so we can put that myth to rest!

Also I think gloss black kidney might be more appropriate for the M 🤔

that's odd. The 2018 order guide says the gloss black 433 is the only option for the 433. Maybe it's a USA thing?

https://www.press.bmwgroup.com/usa/a...86EN_US/378393

We talked about it in one of your prior threads. Can you post up a pic of your car then?

Yea, Canadian order guide says the same thing, must be some sort of a mistake... I will post pictures in June when I get back to Canada!

Off topic, but my F06 is in the shop for a suspension rattle (left rear for anyone who cares). Anyway, I have a F90 loaner car, old-man silver with sport package though... 530i.

It feels very well put together, but the steering meanders. Too touchy, if that makes sense. Love the updated infotainment and the neat hand gesture function, where you can twirl your hand to make the volume go up and down. Power is decent, but doesn't make much noise. I don't like the LCD gauges, feels cheap to me.

Overall its nice, but the f10 still looks better. I'd give it a 6/10. Maybe if I drove the M5 I'd have a different opinion.

On a side note, my 3 year old likes the grandpa silver 530 over my m6... go figure LOL.

The G cars will all have electric steering. So it'll feel unnatural if you've been driving hydraulic cars your whole life. BTW, the F10 M5 and F - M6 all have hydraulic steering and is the last M car to be fitted with such.

Not surprised the tech update inside is amazing. I also concur with you that the LCD and digital gauges is terrible. But that's the sign of the times and what most "common" drivers are expecting these days. They want a high-tech car, that removes all senses of what driving a car is all about. (road noise, tire noise, transmission noise, engine noise, etc etc). Ultimately, the enthusiasts all want the experience of driving a car, not a computer.

After I'm done with the M6, I'm actually going BACK to a 997.2 or 991.1. I'll also probably buy another E9X M3 or a Z4M. They won't ever make cars like this again.
