M6 or Range Rover Sport SVR?
Guys,
A very unlikely pair, but I’m facing this problem... Wife wants a Range SVR, can’t have both - should I swap my M6 Coupe for the SVR? Having driven the SVR, it’s a monster, and sounds incredibly good. What can go wrong with the Range? Am I crazy to even consider? |

I am dealing with this exact issue now. I have an m6 that has been my baby custom 21” wheels full carbon aero kit the works. I believe I will be getting rid of it for a 2018 Range Rover sport supercharged. I drove the svr and it is nice but for the almost 25k difference in cost I just dont see the value. You can easily get the same hp with a simple tune and the seats are more comfortable in the supercharged dynamic. I am really torn on getting rid of the m6 but being lowered with custom wheels in Miami has become very difficult just going basic places. With regards to the x6m it performs amazingly but when it comes to all around the interior new technology package in the 2018 Range Rover blows away the Bmw. I sat in both and the Range Rover just feels much nicer overall to me.

I have a Range Rover Supercharged full size and a m6 so I can chime in; I know its not the sport, but the sport will be a MUCH better daily driver than the M6. THe visibility is key in range's, and the sport (especially the SVR) is extremely sporty, yet retaining practicality and offroad capability.. Well, as much as you can with those low profile tires. And it sounds epic. So its not a BIG loss.
If you need a better daily driver, the range rover will certainly do it. I sometimes daily my M6 but i'm dealing with smooth Norcal roads and the M6 is mostly for joy rides and occassional errands. On the range, you have better visibility, go anywhere anytime despite weather conditions, and never have to worry about curbs or potholes, etc. So if daily is the goal, the range is far superior. Just my thoughts. |

I actually just picked a 2016 M6 Gran Coupe of the Range Rover Sport.
After driving both, the Range was awesome, but the M6 stole my heart! I totally love my GC! In my defense, I do have a 2016 Suburban LTZ for the family stuff and trips |

Thanks guys, but not very helpful
Decided to keep the M6 - after some soul searching I realised that a) I absolutely love the car b) Current Range is an aged model, if anything, perhaps Velar SVR (when it gets released... Jaguar F-Pace SVR could be interesting, too) c) Many interesting options being released soon - RS5, RS5 Sportback, X3M... But tyres need to be replaced, can’t wait to get rid of the P Zeros - someone here made a comment that they are dangerous, and I have to agree... had them in an RS4, and when changing for MPSSs literally transformed the car, so P4Ss ordered, installation on Saturday - can’t wait. |

I drive the sport now -- depends on your hold period. I will say, for a 4 year old vehicle, it has some creaks here and there, plus several solenoid problems, oh and you'll burn through pads/rotors/gas/tires relatively quickly.
BUT, wow, the RR is such a beast. The way it can handle the weight, throw itself into corners and round out flat is blissful. The only reason I'd steer towards the GC is for its looks, better UI, and steering control/unison. |
