The Lexus LC 500 is, as Jezza would say, “desperately pretty”.

I guess this question should now be,

“BMW has abandoned the shark posse, would you buy an 8 or go elsewhere for your style/performance fix.”

Hmmm...eenie, meanie, mynee, moe...which 3 of these 4 would have to go?

I'd probably do the same thing I did this time...hold on to what I have until I find something that truly inspires me. I don't have to have the latest and greatest...I prefer to have what makes me happy and enjoyable to drive. So as long as the 6GC runs and stays mechanically sound...I'll keep maintainer her until the joy is gone and something else lights my fire. This is the reason I kept my e38 7 series until last year. It was a bittersweet moment when I traded her in last year only because she had reached 21 years old...and the 6 GC was a stunning head turner every time I saw an example of one.

The 6GC is still the best of this list. And I'd get another one now or over the next few years if I had to. But, if the list was just the above 4 choices, I would go with the 8GC. It still is the closest relative to the best designed sedan in the last 20 years (6GC). Plus, it will cost close to nothing in a few years

This isn't the first time I've heard this. It appears many believe/speculate that the market value of the 8 series is expected to plummet/depreciate quickly. Which might make them a good buy in the used market in a few years.

Hopefully the engine and drivetrains aren't problematic...and that BMW gets a good handle on the software issues that a lot of new BMW owners with the latest iDrive (7?) are complaining about....as well as some of the semi-autonomous options.

Agreed, it could depreciate heavy like a 7 series. Some 2016 going for low $30Ks
Or hold its value a little better like, say, an i8

The i8 held its value because it is unique and designed well. Some would call it a timeless design. The 6GC is the same but it depreciated fast due to lower demand and some quality issues. The 8GC is trendy and that is never good for design. It is also way overpriced. I think demand will be soft as it is already soft on launch. So it will depreciate hard.

3 yrs old 850GC with 50k miles will be 60% off of MSRP (About $50k). 4 year old with 60K mi will be 40K. 5 year old with 70k mi will be 30K. All retail prices. Wholesale will be 10-20% less. Mark it.

I believe 2015/2016 650 GC's depreciation will slow considerably now that the more generic designed 850 GC is now available. At these price levels, they represent really good value.
