Why is the 1200 mile oil change service so important?

Does missing it increase the chances of premature engine failure? Thanks.

The original oil in the engine will get quite dirty quite quickly as the engine does its initial run in with tiny little perfections being worn away.

There was a forum member that purchased a used 2016 M6 it wound up having had a rod bearing issue and BMW denied him warranty due to the original owner missing his 1200 mile oil change , a lot of red tape, this could be good reason.

A missed 1200/break-in service makes the car ineligible for CPO or any factory warranty
