Even with removing all the screws it is still a pain reaching between the bumper cover and the black plastic behind.

Great thread but I need some help.
I used the YouTube vids and great dyi write up here but ran into issues today while replacing the grill on my ‘16 F06.
So my 14 yr old son and I watched the vids and were able to easily remove the t30 and all to a point where we got to the loosen the front grill area.

1. Unless I’m missing something, the space is very limited to put your hand behind it and unlatch the connectors even with a flat head.

2. Somehow I was able to loosen them slightly and tried to pull the grill out and that mofo did not want to come out like it was still stuck ! Oddly all the yt vids for some reason edit out the part where they actually remove the grill

3. How the heck you’re supposed to remove the bottom clips? The small space between the top of front end , even when loosened is so small that I could barely get to the top clips and even then it seemed like it was “stuck”

What am I missing here ? I did not want to bend the front area too or heavy hand anything and end up with $1000’s worth of damage to save a few 100.

Thanks for the help

How long do some people spend trying to remove their grills this way? Removing the bumper cover really isn't that hard. You might get lucky, but I can easily see spending 45 minutes trying to get those tabs to release and swearing a lot. You could have the bumper pulled out so you have much more room to work in 10 minutes (leaving the wire harnesses connected) and totally off in 20.

Is there a different method to remove the grill?

I did mine using what i read on here. So removal of the screws at the top of the bumper under the bonnet (or hood depending on where you're from) and reached my hand through to the clips i could access, which wasnt very many.

Just when i was about to give up having tried undoing the clips and pulling the grills for what seemed like 30 minutes quite strongly, i stopped, had a word with myself and got back to it. Then they just pulled out. Yes its hard, a complete ball ache and you need to wear gloves but it will work.

Not sure i ever want to repeat the process though!
