Moving on...
My 2015 640 ix is beyond a doubt the most beautiful car I ever owned. From every angle it is simply stunning. Moreover, in my two years of ownership I had no issues or breakdowns - clearly a great car. Unfortunately (for me), I found the driving experience less inspiring; from day one, I longed for a clutch pedal and real engine noise/noise/vibration/feel.
So yesterday, I traded the 640 and moved on to a 2018 M3 competition - 6 speed manual - an incredible machine. Not a better car, just different and more suitable for me. This is a great forum with great information. Although I mostly lurked around, I enjoyed being part of it - moving on to the F80 M3 pages of this site for now. Thanks for all the help and Happy New Year. Last edited by Stumpel; 12-28-2019 at 05:18 PM.. |

Congratulations on the new M3. Yes, without a doubt, the 6 is not a small, nimble machine that will satisfy those who want to toss around the car. It's a sportier version of a luxo-barge.

I'm day after day finding myself in the same shoes while I've been a fan of a sporty car with manual transmission ...... but while getting older ( 52 y.) I must admit that the combination of ZF 8-speed and the bottom torque of a 640 D is not bad either. Some say the 6-series is a sport car, as said as being heavy it's something else ( even in M6 mode ?), still attractive as a 'sleeper' that can show the nails if needed
It's nowadays the same with every brand, manual has disappeard almost totally, I've a dream that my car is to have a manual swap ... |

Always found something special about big, long grand tourers, even though they are not the most practical.
Something smaller and more tossable would be nice to own - like an M235i or an M2! Your M3 seems to more or less cover both. Congrats! |

Beautiful car! I considered an M4 but the ride was just to harsh for me and my back issues. Ended up with a 440 convertible instead.
