Huge M8 discounts

This is a good discount but also reflects proper pricing

Yes, and probably an indication of how M8 (and 8-series in general) were artificially inflated over M6... And people see through that it’s really more of a new M6 rather than a true “step up” M8...

It is definitely not a step up and the price adjustment for the M6 for 6 years back would have the M6 higher. Although the M8 is a very nice car and I would buy it, it is not the breakthrough design of the M6.

Yes, I agree. It’s a very nice car but I think the M6 GC was just a better overall shape and was something very different from BMW at the time

Yeah exactly. Clever but lame ploy by BMW Marketing to try and cash in on the all new "M8" badge and put in a huge price inflation over the outgoing M6. It's really a modernized M6. Now if the M8 had a V12 or some other major technical/engineering improvement, then it might've been justified.

A gently used 2019 F90 for $80k looks even better.

Actually I think the V12 is quite a good point. Merc has dropped theirs now completely, it would get rid of the F90 M5 comparison and make it more of a rival to the DB11, Conti GT etc due to the extra cylinders. It’d sure as hell make me want one.

The issue I see is in the past with AMG they could do a 63 and a 65 in their naming scheme easily. If BMW did an S63TU M8 plus an N74 car what would it be called? 860CSi? Bit of history there.

At a dealership not too far from Alexandria, saw a 2020 M5C FS nicely optioned for around $120k, was there looking at another car and the sales guy came out and said "don't worry about the price you see, we can pull it way down from there"

Its like even they know they have to get their new car prices back to reality to fight against the depreciation curve.
