Not with that foam gun, I've got the same one. Need a pressure washer in the worst way to get the real deal.

Not even a pressure washer? Yes you'll need one of those first .

Nah it does the job just fine. At level 5, it generated tons more foam than what you see in the photo there which was probably at a 1. Not sure what shampoo you're using but I used Chemical Guys Extreme Wash + Wax and it generated a ton of suds at the maximum level. I don't need a foam cannon hooked up to a pressure washer as my car doesn't sit outside unwashed for a year.

Probably a foolish question, but whats the point of a foam gun - does it eliminate the need to handwash, simply foam on and rinse off - or is it just a technique to apply cleaner before hitting it with a sponge?

Yeah it does decent at the highest setting but it doesn't achieve the "snow foam effect" since the concentration of water is still there, but still better than without one.

Technically it could if you wash your car very frequently but realistically its the latter. The foam gun allows for the soap to adhere to the surface, allowing for a slick surface for the hand washing to occur with the mitt. then you wash it off together.

The sequence I follow is rinse > soap -> rinse -> hand wash -> rinse. Depending on the condition of your car, the first soap cycle with the foam gun just allows you to dislodge of the dust/debris before the hand wash cycle. Additionally, I use the foam gun to prime the wash mitt by spraying foam right into the mitt before every swipe for added lubrication.

The sequence I follow is rinse > soap -> rinse -> hand wash -> rinse. Depending on the condition of your car, the first soap cycle with the foam gun just allows you to dislodge of the dust/debris before the hand wash style. Additionally, I use the foam gun to prime the wash mitt by spraying foam right into the mitt before every swipe for added lubrication.
That's neat! I might have to try that. I didn't realize that I could be scratching the paint by hand washing directly after soap/foam especially on a dirty car.
