Aftermarket Wheel Fitment & Offset - M5 to M6

Hi there,

I am interested in wheels that were originally ordered for an M5, to be used on an F13 M6 2door coupe:

20x9.5 ET 28
20x10.5 ET25

I know the size is good but the offset is a bit off. Would this pose a significant problem?

thanks in advance for the input

The stock wheels have a 19mm offset and people often put 10-15mm spacers on them to bring them out further to fit the guard better. I'd recommend you look to do 15mm spacers on the wheels, however as the suspension is the same between the M5 and M6 there won't be any clearance issues if you just want to bolt them straight on.

If it's a really good deal grab them, you could run 10-12mm spacers with extended bolts and bring them out if you need to.

I've had bad experience with spacers on my previous bmws so I would rather avoid them.

Based on this offset the wheels would sit further in? Is the problem only with the front or the back too?

And no it isn't that good of a deal...

The front is pretty much bang on, stock is 31mm so this will be a tiny bit further out. Similar to the rear, people run 10-12mm spacers at the front with no issues on stock wheels - I don't think you'd need to worry.

My understanding is that hubcentric spacers are normally fine to run and won't create issues - just get them from a good brand.

If you can tape a string with on your fender like in this post then you can get an idea on how far they tuck inside the fender

https://www.6post.com/forums/showpos...13&postcount=1

20x9.5 ET 28 = 9.4MM gap from the string
calculator link: https://www.willtheyfit.com/index.ph...9-5&offset2=28

20x10.5 ET25 = 22.4MM gap from the string
calculator link: https://www.willtheyfit.com/index.ph...0-5&offset2=25
