I haven’t gotten a chance to take the Mauser to the range. I’m hoping to go on Nov 22. I have three (four if I ever receive the M4) new/new-to-me rifles that I haven’t taken to the range.

Understood.

For me though, its as much about that sense of history as well.

My Kar98k was made in late spring 1940, around the time of Dunkirk evacuation, and was first issued to the Kriegsmarine and went to Norway with the German Navy where it stayed until end of the war, after which it was issued to the Royal Norwegian Navy post war. Its a bolt and butt plate miss-match, everything else is original and matching down to the cleaning rod and capture screws and has an original issue sling as well.
The original German sights are poor for my now aging eyesight though, but I have shot it at 600yrds distance with half decent results.

Complements my 1950s Zastava (Yugo) M48 Mauser well.

I ordered an M4/AR15 on Tuesday, but I’m still waiting for it to ship. That’ll be my final firearm purchase for the year.
I think we might be brothers from different mothers.

Got my ZPAP in the same colour stock recently - love it - it's so accurate at 200 yards with iron sights - though it does get a bit hot to hold after 200-300 rounds at a time, or maybe I'm just a wuss (now if only it was full-auto... FU NFA, BATFE, etc)

And I have an AR-15 in .223 Wylde complete upper arriving from Bear Creek Arsenal.

I didn't even know Zastava made a Mauser - that is lovely!

It took the better part of 2020, but I finally found a receiver set I like in stock!
This will make for the core of my duty-style rifle build.

Aero is good quality for a great price. I wouldn't call it top quality though. I'd never knock anyone doing an Aero based build, and have done a few myself. But there are more expensive options out there which can bring lighter weight, more features, etc..

I hear ya. My current rifle uses a 7075 billet matched receiver. Actually because of that this time I am building an Aero (that I consider a fancy mil-spec receiver) with the specific intent of easily swapping uppers.

I've used lots of Aero stuff for different builds. No issues. Currently waiting for a restock on any of their 12" free float FDE handguards that have the larger inner space for a suppressor.

More expensive doesn't equal better, the gun industry has really got ppls number selling more expensive products that aren't any better based on marketing hyperbole.

An example of more expensive isn't better in my view is Tikka rifles. Sako engineering and quality at a lower price point. My Tikka in .30-06 is far more accurate than I ever will be. It's an effective, good quality and robust product.

His videos are good, I've watched a few over the years. Tikkas are sub-MOA rifles priced well under $1,000. I'm sure there are others. Higher priced rifles, probably handguns as well, are alot about cosmetics/aesthetics. Not unlike German luxury vehicles.

A Honda CR-V will provide effective transportation, just as a BMW X3 will do. The differences are mainly in cosmetics/aesthetics and subjective aspects of ownership.

Built, not bought.

I wanted a cheap, basic AR with Magpul furniture. The PSA rifles that came with Magpul furniture installed were more expensive than buying a standard/base rifle and adding a Magpul kit to it, so I bought a kit separately. This kit has a subtle zombie theme to it, which I think looks cooler than the OD green Magpul furniture I initially wanted. When prices come back down, I plan to buy a PSA AR pistol with Magpul OD green furniture to convert to an SBR.

Currently the rifle has a red dot on it, but I think I’ll eventually install a 1-6x LPVO. Add a light, and my BuIlD will be complete.

Very nice! I’ll be taking mine to the range with the M4 after I receive my soft rifle case. The trigger on the AK is super light and makes me wonder if it’ll accidentally go “full auto” on me. I’ve seen at least one report of that happening.

For a Tikka 260 and easy under subMOA. My 308 Remington 700 in a chassis stock is also is subMOA.

Picked up a Sig Sauer M18 P320 today. Pretty excited! I’ve wanted one since i shot a M17 during my CCW class. The gun store just got them in last night and only had 2 in stock and said they normally sell out as soon as they come in. Feels fantastic though

I got a P320 Compact when they came out years ago and still really like it. For a full sized gun, it fits me perfect. I hit with my P226 better for some reason and I carry my P365 daily - but every time I think about selling my 320 I pick it up and it just feels good. I tried a small grip frame module and I actually like it better if I am using gloves, etc. I keep it on more than the original Med one.

Nice weapon and good sight picture for me.

I think the M18 is a nice pistol, I'd think seriously about one but it's too close to my APX Centurion in size. I am contemplating a G43X from Shield Arms though.

Yeah it really fits my hand nicely. I’ve got a few other handguns i really like as well. Including my glock 23 but there’s just something that feels right about the M18. plus i have put griptape onto my glock that make me hesitant to carry it in my bmw as i typically unholster if i’m by myself.
It probably will not be my EDC but will be carried often in the winter. During the warmer months i have a Taurus G2C that fits my body type perfect without printing. Eventually i wanna upgrade to a P365 though.

It definitely seems like a nice gun though and i’m excited to take it to the range soon to break it in.

When I'm sitting in traffic while driving my BMW... I just wish I could "unholster" one of these...

Sorry, just got frustrated with the commute this evening

You can buy these now.

My current edc is a Glock 43X with the Shield Arms 15 rd mags. I carry it iwb and once I sit in the bmw and buckle up I can’t get to it fast.

So I started carrying my bigger gun and put my 43x in my left top jacket pocket.

The SAW is for sale to the public...!?!

That's a hefty price tag but I wouldn't mind adding one to the collection.

I'm sure I'll have to wait to I relocate since I'm sure that kind of weapon is not available in the North East.
