2021 Hockey Thread
Season started yesterday, but there are crickets.
Any NHL fans still here? It's going to be a lot of rivalry games in not a lot of time this year! It's an interesting schedule... Am I totally biased or is it super tough for the teams in the East????

Flyers fan here, great start to the season last night. Not just because we smoked Shittsburg, but because Oskar and Nolan were back on the ice - healthy.
This year should be fun with all the local games and the short time between them. I'm looking forward to the Tahoe thing, too. That should be cool. The East is a Beast this year. Those teams are going to beat the snot out of each other. It will be a war of attricition through the playoffs, might make it easier for whoever comes out of the West. Pretty pumped for the 56 game sprint...agree it will be a war of attrition. Do like the recast of some old rivalries that impact the divisions.

Huge New York Islanders fan here. I try to watch every game. I think the shortened season and playing the same teams many times will actually be a good thing for the NHL. It's going to renew old rivalries and make it more intense as each game means more towards getting a playoff spot.

caps fan here.
gonna be hard to watch chara rockin' the red and i dont expect too much out of him over the course of a full season, but he looked pretty decent last night...maybe a lil slow (not that he was ever a speed demon). laviolette needs to work out the pairings, because i dont think 20 mins a night for chara will result in overall success for the caps blue line.

Sabres fan here.
Although the team is much improved in my opinion... not feeling very optimistic considering the new division alignments. Seems like the "MassMutual East" is stacked. That being said, we did spank the Flyers last night. And "they're supposed to be good." We'll see how the season plays out! |

Since the news broke in the morning (and the coach said that all four players were negative for COVID), the story has changed a bit and Sammy is positive for COVID. That makes the suspension a bit more understandable, IMO. They have to quarantine for whatever amount of time, ok. Still - he tested positive right after the Pitts game that he played. Players on both teams were right on him, so shouldn't both teams (in their entirety) have to quarantine for that entire amount of time? It's going to be an interesting year to say the least....

SJ Sharks fan here...bit of a rough start for us, Burns was def a bit frustrated in some interviews where he pointed out that unlike other teams, we haven't played even to practice in months due to the shutdowns.
