Alignment Question

My mechanic told me that i should have the BMW dealership align my 650i because there is a certain way to do it. Put weight in the front seat or something and they have some special equipment?? Does that make sense? The guy seems to know what hes talking about and he is sending me somewhere else to have work done so must be something to it??
thanks

Any decent wheel shop can do it. I would get a Hunter one done....

Just a suggestion, but in the future, when asking for specifics…remember that there are THREE different models…the F06, F12, F13 (4DR coupe, 2DR ‘vert, 2DR coupe). There may be differences when asking certain questions…so remember to give enough info so that we can give you the best suggestions, recommendations, info, etc.

Since you only wrote that you have a 650i…I didn't know which platform to look up the info for…so I used my f06 650ix as an example.

Yes, you were told correctly that weight is put on the front seats, rear seat, and trunk when performing a wheel alignment:

Just an FYI since I was already looking up the info and the f12, f13, and f06 owners might find the weight info interesting…it does appear that all 3 platforms (including the B6 Alpina) require the same amount of weight in the front seats, rear seats, and trunk when performing an alignment.

Thanks For the info and i am glad i found an indy that actually knows these things. I have a 2014 650i convert. so i guess f12.
Also, it chews up front tires in about 20k miles which i guess given the type of tires these things use isnt too bad, but i dont want to make it any worse by getting a bad alignment.
Thanks again
