Instrument Cluster

I looked down today while driving and noticed my Instrument Cluster was black. All I could see was the "D" for drive and the running lights icon lit up. Pic attached. Started it later and everything was back on. Wondering if this is a warning of things to come?

Wow…this is one of the things that scares me about the 6WB cluster & the all digital clusters in the new G chassis BMWs. What happens when data is interrupted? There’s obviously some power to the display since the “D” is visible as well as the light icon.

This is why I prefer the 6WA cluster which has some digital aspects but still has analog needles in the gauges…there’s at least a chance that if electrical glitches occur…the analog needles would still give indication of the speed and engine RPM.

Good luck figuring out what happened…keep the forum updated.

Well, I would say it's a sign of things to come.

Happened to me.

Check out this thread and buy one from ebay/aliexpress. I paid a stupid amount at the dealership to have mine fixed then bought one as a spare just in case.

This happened twice with mine. Each time it came back on after a shut down and restart.

Looks like the fix is cheap for when the time comes

$150 ish for new screen.

That link is for the Navigation Display - not the instrument cluster.

I think it's just bad chinese translation. That's definitely not a NAV display from a 6.
