What's this, a tracker?

I've recently bought an M6 GC and while checking the battery (as it needs replacing) I found this box hard wired into the boot. The wires look to go off to the fuse box.

I'm thinking it's some 3rd party tracker and I can just remove it. Right?

Opened it up and its got a simcard in it, so it's definitely an aftermarket tracker.
