Power Trunk Retrofit for F06

Hi,

Is anyone as crazy as me and wish that their F06 has a motorised trunk (or boot for us who live in places other than the U.S.) Every time my kids slam it closed when they take their school bags out drives me nuts!!

I see there are retro fit kits for 3 and 5 Series but nothing for 6!! Would love to hear from anyone who has managed to get something to work.

I hear you. I went from a 2008 $70,000 Mercedes convertible to a 2015 $116,000 BMW convertible, and the Mercedes had a trunk that fully opened and closed from inside the car. Grabbing the trunk emblem just feels crude to me.

I think it is not possibile, also this accessory is not present on factory list. I also was searching this upgrade in the past but is not available.

My kids are banned from opening mine flipping the badge up as I fear one day they will break it. I use the remote and only I close it

I find using a simple instructional phrase..."don't slam my trunk" or "don't slam my doors" an effective method...especially when spoken in a stern yet calm tone. And if/when spoken once and it occurs again...additional words are added that include some form of consequences for not following my initial instructions. I've found it to be a great teaching tool for having an appreciation for taking care of things and not destroying them.

There's also the interior trunk/boot release button down in the driver's footwell that can be used to release the trunk:

it was never offered as an option on the 6, therefore there won't be a factory retrofit kit. I bet you can somehow get the 5 series mechanisms to work on the 6. There a ton of parts commonality with the two cars, but your problem would be coding it.

Thanks for all of the responses fellow 6er's!!

I did find a Youtube video of a power trunk retro-fit but there is no detail on how they achieved it.

I'll just have to yell louder at my kids not to slam my trunk!! To be honest, it's their finger prints all over the boot lid that mostly drives me nuts!!

Depending on your kid's height/age/dexterity...you could show (train) them how to use the pull down handle inside the boot/trunk lid along with manipulating the trunk's Roundel (aka handle in regards to the f06) to close the trunk...with the whole intent to avoid (as much as possible) leaving hand/fingerprints on the painted areas of the boot/trunk.

It's still working for me...let me see if I can manipulate the URL address.

Link works for me.

You're now on a watch list I'm sure, for linking to a Russian video...

uh oh...don't put me on the collusion list!

My take away from the video is...I think I kinda like the 367 wheel style as an alternate 19" wheel. Hmmm....they might make a nice wheel to mount dedicated winter tires.

Agreed, the 367 looks much better on the car than off. I've always wondered what a powder coated set would look like.

Thats funny that was the first thing I noticed about the video. Auto trunk is not really a big thing for me since the first car I had it on was the A7. On a trunk or hatchback I could see the need and desire, but for this car I would invest in some other mod first....

Totally agree on the power trunk not even being an option! Practically speaking (with or without kids) this is something I would not want to miss (if I could retrofit it... or have it factory).
