Retro fit reverse camera anyone?

I’m a newbie to the forums so hope this thread isn’t elsewhere but I couldn’t find it. I’ve recently got a Dec 2015 M6 GC in the uk and interested in retro fitting the reversing camera. I found a few companies that can help link to the main idrive so it looks like the OEM version but anyone know if it can be set up using the opening boot/trunk lid emblem as if its fitted when new?

I couldn’t seem to open that link anymore but I see Bimmer tech can deliver a unit - see below . Do you think they produce good kit?

Thats great thanks - if I can get the camera to fit into the boot lid emblem vs a camera above the number plate would be ideal.

Excuse the ignorant question but im still interested in this but from the link above - do they sell the whole kit and im struggling to find someone to fit it. I looked at the BimmerTech Kit but the Uk fitter didnt want to do it - I’ve sctached my rear bumper once already so keen to get it done. Thanks

Yes it is the whole kit. A BMW Dealer should be able to install the kit. Or if you look for an audio electronic specialist.

I went ahead and got my local electrical specialist to fit non OEM Front and rear cameras (linked to the iDrive) and really pleased - only £850. He could have fitted the OEM reverse camera (with camera through the boot badge) but he wasn’t sure he could add the front camera (as not sure there is an OEM camera for that) and I wanted both. It came with a remote control if i want to adjust the settings. It works well with the Existing PDC and the 3D yellow/red etc blocks appear when an obstacle appears. You can adjust the settings to show the reversing trajectory lines but im not a fan of those as not sure they mirror the true width of the vehicle so like a clean view. Also for fun you can run the front camera at speed for an extra speed sensation (although it makes my wife feel sick lol).

Looks like there isnt any detail on the invoice but its a kit my local car electrical installer uses (Formby Electrical http://formbycarelectrical.co.uk) - the attached is all i have but i can ask them of you want?

Wow. well done. And the cameras are so small almost not recognizable. I am very interested in knowing the make as I am looking for a front camera for another car. Is it specific for BMW or also for others.

I think your local electrical installer has done an excellent job. I don't know of anyone in the SE of England that I'd trust with delving into the car's electrics. I've got a 360 camera which I don't find very reassuring but maybe in time I'll get used to it and just settle for that.

Thanks, he’s an established small company - the local BMW garages trust and use him for lots of retrofit stuff like Apple Car play for cars that they cant do. I’ve put my name down for that (about £500). If you fancy a trip to the seaside (Formby) then you could kill two birds with one stone lol.
