LOW SPEED ASSIST - DCT M cars

I didnt realise there was a LOW SPPED ASSIST feature on my M6? Im new to a true M car and was finding it a little tricky to creep forward when trying to park accurately - as the car has so much power and sensitive to the touch . I was used to being able to creep forward while in D on other Auto cars. I stumbled on this cool feature with my M6 (excuse me if everyone already knows) - simply tap the accelerator lightly and then remove your foot from the gas the car then starts to creep (1mph?) like a normal Auto in D then you can simply touch the brake to slow the speed etc. I was pleased to learn abut this so thought id share.

It is in the owners manual as well I use it on a regular basis. What I find annoying though is sometimes it won't hold the brakes on for me as I'm coming onto the throttle in reverse going up a hill. So I need to use both feet to hold it there. It never does it going forwards.

Doesn't that take some sort of toll on the DCT? Sounds as if what they're doing is only partially engaging the clutch to maintain slow speed, which would cause more wear more, no?

I saw it in the owners manual as well. I carried the manual around with me for a few weeks, where I read it a little at a time. That’s how I was able to find out about the low speed assist. It is completely safe for the car and the DCT. BMW built it into the car’s system because of the issue with the car’s power and pedal sensitivity.

Above about 10kmh or 6mph the clutch is engaged in first, so yes this will create a small amount of wear. But think about a manual gearbox, you'll always need to do this sort of thing anyway and regularly manual clutches last 60k miles or more.

Thanks. It’s the actual photo of my car, but my car looks exactly the same. Here’s my car in its stock form.
