Side Vent Removal?

Looking to get replacements here and would love to NOT have to take to a shop. Plenty of tutorials on front grille removals, are the side vents as simple as just pulling them off? The Chrome has got to go!

I removed all the screws and pins on top and bend the front slightly towards me until I get my hand / arm between radiator and front bumper. Than you can feel the clips which you press and than you can remove the grill to the front.

That will be my approach... was just digging through that site and was amused by the simplicity. I suppose if all the clips are facing up and you push up, it could actually release as diagram, but not interested in finding out!

To remove the grill is really a piece of cake.

A quick search on the TIS website using the f06 M6...and when you type "remove side repeater" in the search box...you get this additional information at this direct link: https://www.newtis.info/tisv2/a/en/f...front/FIchR3oc
{example of one of the pictorial instructions at the link above}
  • Unlock the side repeater (1) with special tool 00 9 340 and thereby
  • raise the retaining clip (2).
  • Remove the side repeater (1) in direction of arrow.

I had that saved, didn't know if the processes were the same since the vents looked different - thanks!

Short answer is no, that's the M5 procedure. You'll break it if you simply yank.

Definitely right... while the rims arent chrome, they plus the factory badges seem to tie it all together so may keep as is for now. The wrap is definitely the choice otherwise, thanks

Did you buy the side vents from BMW or are they after market? My BMW dealer says that BMW doesn't sell side vents like yours. They look awesome 😎
Could you tell me where you bought them?

OR you could make your own! These are the autotecknic purchased from creative motoring. Searched long and hard - INDs are pieces bonded on oem parts, which is whAt i did for 180 bucks. Bought them through creative motoring (get the 1x1 pattern to match roof, they also come in a 2x2), grab some plastic clear epoxy from depot for 8 bucks and bond away. You could 3m them also but they dont advise going through car washes. These are now permanent!!

I did remove them first and took my time indoors...
