Looking more like this f87 CS gamble was worth it. It looks legit. Think about it- bmw has come out and said they want to make their M cars more distinctive from regular m sport models but yet this new 2 series has m mirrors and a power dome? That doesn’t jive with the “vision” so it’s likely the m2 will look different than the 240i and with the rear lights and rear end being a catastrophe, I think we’re being naive if we think they aren’t going to hit the m2 with their “taking risks” strategy now. I saw a g80 M3 in the flesh for the first time and I can’t get over how bad it looked and didn’t gel together.

They’re basically taking risks knowing this is the last ICE generation and enthusiasts are going to have to live with electrification anyway- so bad. I’ll save judgement until release but if the f87 CS was peak bmw design.. as throttle house said, we have jumped into a pit of despair.

Yes but it's Porsche. It also runs 6:43 on the ring. The cayenne does 7:38 on the ring.
You cannot compare the two brands of cars. It's not fair.

BMW for me ended w the f80. But I do see great things for the boxy look of the 240 and m2.

It does look authentic in that it has towing eye and the parking sensor positions.

I'm not sure I like the new M trend to not have external grille bezels.

Where does the number plate go on this?

Classic 3 box design.

Just all 3 boxes are the front bumper ::

Damnit!.. these designers must be getting bonuses for defiance.
The G42 is growing on me quickly, but to this, I say:
"No way José"… 😅

Too early to tell. As someone else said it doesn’t look too great as a stand-alone part but if it works well with a similar flow on the rest of the car, it could just look awesome.

I really like the new 2er so if they mess this up I’m happy to get an M240i for the wife.

Either way, I already like it better than the horrendous G8x. That front end grows on me less and less not more and more

Well they didn't care either on the G8x. Like designing the car, getting approvals and then realizing ‚ups we forgot the license plate, okey we'll just stick it over grill."

Good job - you're quick!
Horizontal slats on the small grill work for me!

Can't work out why bmw can't do a better job concealing their sensors and cameras. If I saw correctly, the g42 m240 still has an external rear camera mounted above the registration plate. couldn't they replicate vw's neat concealed camera behind the badge?

Unlikely. I know, shocking to believe so it must be fake.

But the G8x was leaked in a similar fashion and that turned out to be as real as they come.
