Parking Brake Malfunction

anyone experienced this?

it random came on after going on a drive.

first got a Auto Holding message on idrive, prompting me to apply the brakes. then the parking brake malfunction.

a quick search from a rando websites claims to soft reset, disconnect the battery, or inspect or replace the parking brake actuator.

as of now the auto holding a park brake are not functional. and i dont even use these functions.

p.s what are you guys using for a bmw scanner. i would like to read the fault codes associated but these codes are not stored in the ecu. they are in the emf

removing the battery for about an hour helped fixed this issue.

not sure if there was a canbus error or some thing. things have been normal for about a week. hopefully this will help someone in the future.
