BMW 640D 2012 Software Updates

Hi all,
I have 2012 640d Grand Coupe and looking what could I do updates wise (Gearbox, ECU, Maps, IDrive, etc.)
Can anyone point me to direction what cables and software do I need to start updating everything thanks

You can buy xHP if you want to flash your tranny, and an aftermarket tune for the dme/ecu. There is no bmw updates that I am aware of. The maps you can update yourself but you will need to either buy a lifetime key off eBay or use a laptop and decode it yourself. I would just by the key. Map packs can be found on torrent sites or Google.

Module updates are not a recommended DIY due to the complexity of the process. You need the appropriate software files, ICOM hardware and a battery tender to keep the car powered up while the update happens. The margin for error and risk of bricking modules is not worth the risk, and more often than not the module firmware updates bring no noticeable changes.

To add to that every time I have asked BMW to perform module updates the make me sign a disclaimer since modules could brick during the update process even with all the correct hardware and software.

If it ain't broke, don't fix it...
