test Drove 2020 M5

I test drove this 2020 M5. Whoa! She is a beast!! I loved driving it, but also found myself way over the speed limit pretty much all of the time. While merging, I blew past a woman driving a Prius who honked and shook her fist at me. Probably HP envy. The dealer made me a semi-reasonable offer, but I demurred. Compared to the GC, it just doesn’t imho have the looks. I fell in love with driving it, and the POWER omg, but I couldn’t fall in love with the car. So for now I’ll stick with the GC.

The new M5 is a beast. And with the Marina Bay Blue exterior, it check marks all the boxes EXCEPT gracious beauty inside and outside like the 6GC. So, do you pick the girl that has everything and is one of the most gorgeous inside and outside and will look gorgeous in 10 years or one that's basically a drug addict and looks not bad now, but will look dated in 10 years?

You can easily make your 650i pretty close to that hp/fast as a stock M5, so there is that potential if you ever wanted it.

Much more nimble. And the front wheels pull you through the corners like you wouldn’t believe!

Nothing a pure stage 1 can't handle then lol. But yeah 640i is definitely not as easy to power as a N63TU

The whole current line of bimmers is meh. I hate the new oversized kidney grilles. I just hope they get the looks sorted out in the next few years when it will be time to replace the sixer.

I totally agree. To be honest, in my opinion the F06/12/13 is the best looking BMW platform inside and out. And while the F90's driving dynamics are more BMW-like in the current generation, this (and the g30) platform can't compete in looks with the previous F10.

Who is over there designing these new BMWs? It doesn't make any sense. I hope in the near future BMW designs these models as good as they drive. Please.

The colour is amazing and is the power, but the looks just dont do it for me, the last one didnt either. The new one is just like a bloated 3 series. Id take an older M6 over the new M5 any day of the week.

With you on that one. I'll be looking at different German brand for next car. There is nothing in the range that would tempt me to stay.

And this is the problem I face as well. I'm currently in a 650GC. I've test driven the new M5 as well as M850i. They were both fast cars. But the 5 series does not even come close to the F06 in the looks department. The other factor is that although we enthusiasts know the M5 is something special, most onlookers will just see another 5 series, similar to the 10 other 5 series sedans parked at the mall. I came from an F10 550 and it just didn't have that "special" feeling that I get from driving the 6 series.
