I think its worth even just for getting rid of the horrible bluetooth delay on CIC. It has like a second or two delay which is quite annoying..!

The only delay I experience is when initially starting the car. Other than that there’s no delay.

Hmm I get this delay from bluetooth audio, thought it was same across all CIC platform

For example, play youtube video and what I see is like a second ahead of what I hear

Well, at least we know the pricing so far - $470 doesn't seem too bad, if it works the way they claim.

has there been much feedback and reviews on this one from 5 series owners? It probably is exactly the same unit with different housing/mounting?

YOWZA!

Ok, so maybe you guys can help out here.

As of a few days ago, the MSRP on the 6-series unit from AVIN was $470. Now, it' listed at $740. So, either someone there has dyslexia, or they sprung the trap shut.

I sent an email to them asking the question about HOW the system works - does it "pass through" the BMW alerts actively, or do we need to switch back and forth between the two environments to gain information on systems like TPMS, backup camera, oil level, audio system EQ settings, and so on. Crickets. No reply.

I'm also wondering how many of the 'add-ons' are necessary. For example, what do they mean by external or internal TPMS monitors - isn't that included in the unit? And why would we need an additional F06 backup camera given a backup camera if the system works with our OEM camera? Does the kit (I would assume...) include a high-res screen?

So, when I price this thing out, it's looking like closer to $1000, which is well on the way to a full NBT upgrade. I'm also wondering how complicated the conversion is... they don't post any sort of instructions, so we don't know how deep the rabbit hole goes. Any info on that would be appreciated.

Your thoughts?

Yeah, I don't have a want to buy it at the new price, especially since it's still not clear on some details as pointed out above. If they come back down, I'll revisit, but at this point I see this as a more modern screen upgrade and Android system inclusion (which I only really care about so I don't have to pair my phone to access my Google Play app, as well as Google Maps) for longer drives, where I don't care as much about the OEM cameras, etc

The options list on that page has only NBT, no CIC although the title suggests that it is for CIC and NBT

Ah, ok. I see what you mean now - the second bullet. I'm going to guess that's just a typo.

Ok, so one thing I like, going thru the options list, is that there is a FRONT camera option. This would potentially be useful to me, as that I am always sweating bullets when I approach a parking curb/stop. Number one reason why I haven't lowered my car.

Meanwhile, I see there is another manufacturer that makes BMW android systems and, if you read thru the FAQ for the F10 system, they seem to integrate the functions of the car, like parking sensors and rear camera (no mention of surround view camera systems). No 6 series though, maybe we can petition them for one.

I bought their universal double din system for my daily/Xterra, have yet to install though.

I would gladly plunk down $8-900 for something that is integrated with the OE functions. Again, not sure if the AVIN system does so...

Anyone want to take bets that the system linked above is exactly what AVIN is selling under their own name?

I mean, the Avin guys are even using some of the same photos, fercryinoutloud!

For the record, I sent TWO emails to Avin - one via their website and one directly via email - to ask about functions. No answer back. So, I think we can conclude that their technical and sales support sucks rocks.

Lol, I think they are slightly different, based on the icons in the top right corner of the screen. Then again, they aren't consistent for that one brand either lol.

Did find a video of the Dasaita brand (F10) system in operation. It does show the rear camera and the parking guide lines working like OEM.

(operation of the system starts around 8:45, car being put into reverse at around 9:50)

It's encouraging to know that it's possible, but whether not the AVIN system works this way is still to be determined.

I think the first best way to find out for sure is for one of us to buy one of the AVIN units and report back. I nominate... YOU.

[just kidding...]

And... STILL NO RESPONSE TO MY EMAIL from Avin. I'm guessing they must not need our businesses, nor does it bode well for customer support, if they can't reply to an email in the span of days, into weeks.
