Hello from an excited newbie
Hi everybody,
a highly excited newbie here, having paid a deposit for a pre-owned 640i Convertible to a BMW dealership. the 2011 reg car just came into the dealership so its still 'unprepared', will take a week or two I guess to come into my hands. this will be my 3rd BMW, having owned a 318i and and X5 before. said that its been many years. so I have 2 initial questions: 1. appreciate any buying advise, tips please. 2. where do I get started on coding on this car, what cable, software, etc, pls? will post some pics when I get the car cheers j |

No experience with coding, but I'm planning on eventually getting the Carly adapter and app. It can do a lot of the basic coding stuff and will be handy when you need to register a new battery as well.
On that note, if the car still has it's originally battery, might as well try to negotiate a new battery with the purchase. Also, get them to update the navigation maps as well. |

Welcome! Coding is very simple and run you about $40 to $50 and you can do it yourself via your iPhone and dongle that you will get from Amazon. Search on the forum for BimmerCode and you will get the threads. Simple and easy! |

Congrats on the car - did you get this from the gatwick dealership by any chance?
Probably too late now but you can negotiate 2 years AUC warranty these days if your haggle hard enough! Also for coding, i use the carly app - only thing i really wanted was my rear lights as DRLs. |
