All of these octane boosters will maybe bring 91oct to 93oct and 93oct to 95oct but at the same time they will foul your plugs and leave colored deposits on the plugs from MMT and other ingredients they use. You're better off throwing 4 gallons of E85 in.

I thought the limit with E85 is like 1-2 gal. I’ve tried to do more and have had “drivetrain malfunction” and the fuel pump couldn’t keep up.

I've had no issues with 3-4 gallons mixed with 16-17 gallons of 91oct. Were you putting in more and then filling the tank full of 91 or 93?

I can’t remember exact process but is it 93 then e85? I didn’t think initial fuel mattered if it was all mixed within 5min at same fuel station

What’s wrong with 98 octane? In Germany, the home country of M6, you only get 100 octane at some selected stations - for the cost of 2-3 times 98 octane. As far as I’m aware, these engines are meant to run on 98. And American octane rating 93 is not the same as European... As per your note, US 93 is similar to European/ international 98... Stay away from octane boosters, they may have worked at the time of carburettors, but I would never put that stuff into my M6!

I know , the 98 octane is great , my car is tuned to 98 octane , and higher octane ratio will make the car run better , it will prevent knocks and misfire , also keep me on the safe side in case i get bad fuel !!!!!

I've done it both ways without issues but I usually throw in the 4 gallons and then fill the tank full of 91.

There is no easy or cheap way of getting consistent high octane with boosters. The best way is to buy high octane race fuel at select stations. https://www.sunocoracefuels.com/fuel-finder or to pump it yourself http://www.racefuel.com/vp-ms109-rac...el-101-octane/

I don't know where you live, but Sunoco sells 100 octane at select stations (under lock and key). When you get there, just make sure you pull your pants down, and grab your ankles...

IMO, high octane on a stock street driven M6 is overkill. And I can ensure you will not feel the difference. Open your wallet (expect $150 for a full tank) and see for yourself.

In NZ it is US$142 for 80 litres of 98 octane.

You can most def. feel a difference. Even 4 gallons of E85 mixed with 91oct makes a big difference in how the car pulls

E85 mix is going to make the most difference in “feeling anything” because it’s going to cool the air when the fuel hits and a cooler IAT is more power. Like 1* is equal to 1hp

Yes, performance cars or high performance cars are running with 98octane. Shell sells racing fuel 100 and ARAL sells 102 the same as the DTM are using. And yes you feel a difference. The knocking is much less. Ok additional I have a tune so 98 is the lowest octane I can use.

I disagree, as mentioned above you feel a difference. Not gaining HP but the engine runs smoother and maybe the throttle response is little better. And yes you pay for it. ~140$

I dont live in the US , and as i mentioned above my car is tuned with stage 1 + on 98 octane , so basicly higher octane level with make the car pull harder and prevent the knocks or misfire .
Octane booster are the best option for me right now , until i can get e85 which i cant right now , thats why im confused about the octanium .

the additive will damage the catalytic converter. There is likely a lead additive or something of that nature in it.

Not only that but even if you don't have cats the additives foul your spark plugs. I never had good long term results using them. Once in a while is fine

This is very interesting. I too want to try the VP concentrate or E85, I’m sure both have pros/cons as mentioned above, as with anything that brings more power.
I only have 91 octane near me. I am tuned with jb4 and would like to, at the bare minimum, go to 93 octane. Anyone know how much VP concentrate or E85 is needed to go from 91 octane to 93?
SocalM6GC, do you know what octane level you’re at with those 4 gallons of E85?

Looks like 3 gallons should bring it to 93. Going to try it out.

I had thought I would be right between 93-94oct with 4 gallons of E85 and it ends up at 93.7oct so it's just a little better than the best pump gas you can fill up in the USA aside from any race fuels. You were off on your calculation because the M6 has a 21.1g fuel capacity and you typed in 20.1. Here is how mine came out:

You are correct! I thought I put 21.1. Well I added 3 gallons today and on the butt dyno, I did feel more power. I’ll have to confirm with my dragy. I will add four gallons next time and record results.
