SES light/codes *update
Greetings all, looking for some big picture guidance.
Car is still under warranty fyi, however, dealership is not local to me. 2015 650iX 32K, car sat for 10 days "ish", no codes prior. Car was actively driven from purchase to 10 day vacay. Code read #1 Carly ODBII Fault Code: 140010 Fault Explanation: :Misfiring, several cylinders: recognized Fault Code: 140110 Fault Explanation: :Misfiring, Cylinder 1: recognized Fault Code: 140004 Fault Explanation: :Misfiring, several cylinders: exhaust harmful Fault Code: 140104 Fault Explanation: :Misfiring, Cylinder 1: exhaust harmful Fault Code: 140210 Fault Explanation: :Misfiring, Cylinder 2: recognized Fault Code: 140204 Fault Explanation: :Misfiring, Cylinder 2: exhaust harmful Code read #2 after clearing above codes Carly ODBII Engine / Motor Fault Code: 118001 Fault Explanation: Mixture ECU: mixture too lean Fault Code: 118401 Fault Explanation: Mixture ECU: mixture too lean, excessive deviation Upon start, I notice a slight roughness from cold start. Car runs and drives fine, I am observing the SES (service engine soon) light illuminating at idle speeds. Thoughts from the braintrust? Thanks Dave *edited for SES (service engine soon) vs CEL (check engine light) Last edited by Deroberson; 11-01-2018 at 12:01 PM.. |

Update to the SES (service engine soon) light
Got an email back from the service personnel at the dealership today.
"We found that the battery was actually the cause of the SES light and rough start/idle. It was causing a lot of under voltage so items were not getting the correct power. We are replacing that today to fix the issue." A learning experience here no doubt, low battery causes a engine light (SES) vs just a "low batt", "low voltage" alert. I realize these are basically electric cars and many things are associated with a good power source, but it seems like there could be a more intuitive approach. All things being said, car is 3 years old, no battery replacement in its service records, sat for 10 days before throwing the light, 33K miles, perhaps it was due. Thankfully covered under what sliver of a warranty remains, now onto considering extended warranty options. +1 for the knowledge bank. Dave Last edited by Deroberson; 11-02-2018 at 03:28 PM.. |
