Thinking of getting a GT

The family is growing and the 3er doesn’t fit 2 car seats and a stroller. I was thinking of an X5 or a Defender until I drove both and I’m just not an SUV guy. At the Land Rover dealer there was a 640i GT and I only saw the trunk when a customer opened it and it’s huge!!! Now I’m thinking of buying one instead because it has the room I want and none of the SUV dynamics that I don’t want. What should I look for? Is it a good decision to buy a car that was only available for 2 years? What’s a good price for a medium spec 20-30K miles one? Thank you

640i GTs are very scarce. With only 2018 and 2019 models, the odds of finding one are slim but the prices are usually very low for the type of car and equipment you can get.
The car is still made in Germany in 2021 for other markets so parts should be available. Unfortunately, this particular website is low on commentators.
The car is very large and the adjustable back seat is very roomy. Car seats are not a problem. A stroller? Easy peasy.
The trunk is the largest I've ever owned, a 6 foot ladder is easy with the seats down. I believe an X5 trunk tray fits with lots of room. I had to get some warranty work done on mine and the 2021 3 series and 2 series loaners were barely OK but nothing can touch the ride in the GT. This is a luxury car.
In all Canadian cars, they came equipped with the 2 axle air suspension which is off the 5 series European wagon rear end and the 7 series front end. Even in Sport, the car ride is exceptional. Most Canadian cars come fully equipped. I love the ACC with Stop and Go, interior trim (Nappa and Piano blk).
There are multiple reviews on-line. After checking them out, try and find one and take it for a test drive. You won't regret it.
Sadly, actual sales tell the story--Americans don't like hatchbacks so the car was discontinued in all of N. America.
Good Luck.

I've just sold mine after three happy years with it. One of the reasons that i bought it was i needed something that could take three suitcases in the boot (trunk) and the 6GT does so easily

I'm 50K miles into my 5GT with three 2K+ trips under my belt. The car is amazing on the road in terms of comfort, ride and technology until now. BMW did not include the NBT based 5GT in the free fix for AT&T killing off 3G. I can't speak for the 6GT but don't expect any love from BMW NA. They hated BMW discontinuing the 5 station wagon in the US and being forced to sell the 5GT. Those hipster sales went to Audi and MB.

So if you are looking at a used 6GT, take a look at it's connection technology and consider BMW will pull the plug on it when they can. Meantime, BMW has no station wagon in the US and look what Audi announced as a replacement for their luxury A7 hatchback (in addition to their station wagon): 5 seats, 5 doors and all electric. Only thing holding me back is lack of 4 wheel steering option. YMMV

Well I bought it!!! I couldn’t be happier with it. It has every single option on it. I love the ride, the space, the massage seats, everything. The amount of equipment for the price is really good value. Thank you everyone

I think you will love it. It is rare but it drives like a 7 series with the utility of a 5 series wagon. It is even a good looking car. Only suggestion is replace the run flats for regular grand touring tires early. I actually switched to the stock 18" 7 series wheels to get a smoother ride. Where I am the roads are tough so the added sidewall helps. So far it has been reliable and as comfortable as my previous 7 series.

Like 'machinebuilder' I swapped the 20" on my car for 19" before I picked up the car in 2018. I took two cars for a test drive and couldn't tell the difference in the ride, but know from past experience that large rims=tire replacement. Runflats will save you but a runflat can't be repaired if it is driven a long distance 'flat'. I've had experience and have been able to repair and not repair runflats.
If your roads are better than our Toronto cow paths then you'll be OK.
Our highways are pretty good.
The freeze thaw cycle is brutal on roads so you should be OK in the south.

Enjoy. I still love mine and after three recent trips the massage comfort seats are incredible.

The roads are good here. I love the look of the 20” but the RFT’s are too noisy. I have an infant car seat and a booster seat in the back with my seat pushed all the way to the back and I love that. The trunk fits a two seat stroller which is awesome. I honestly didn’t care for the shape of the car but now I love it. Thank you all

Previously I owned BMW X5 (E70) 3.0d for 8 years and I loved it.
Now it's BMW 6 GT 630d 2018 and it's also great. If you have a choice - buy one with full pneumatic suspension.

Yeah, it's definitely a good reason it's a comfortable one that you can get. Got mine from a dealer, a trusted one. I'll show you a picture of mine. Cost was about $69k but sure my he can help you out with a beat out price.
Here's a picture of mine👇

Definitely recommend 6gt. More practical than the 7 series and just as comfortable.

Imole93 must be a scammer.
The post was a direct copy from one of my earlier posts.
