When to replace brakes?

My Vehicle Status says replace rear brakes in 3,600 miles. Will i be able to get a replacement set from the dealer? I am still in my factory warranty for my 14' M6 Gran Coupe.

Depends when your 4 year maintenance period expires. Warranty does not cover brakes. Also, that 3,600 mile statement can last a long time, mine has said front brakes in 1400 miles for at least the last 3,000 miles or so.

Call your service guy and ask, but I suspect the answer will be no.

Likely no, it doesn't hurt to ask. From my experience you need to be within the 2000-1000 mile range to get it covered early.

Yea I asked the dealer and he stated 2000 miles but its possible it can be replaced due to my upcoming factory warrant end date. The brakes still bite really well so if they dont see that it needs replaced anytime soon, they may update & reprogram the service date for them to a more reasonable estimate.

Under the category of "doesn't hurt to ask" I've always made service appointments a week or two before the base service plan expires, even if nothing is actually due. I tell my SA to go over it and inspect everything ... his last chance to get $ from BMW ... they always manage to find a few things that are "due" or need replacing. Give it a go and see what happens.

same here. I've done this with all 3 of my BMWs and each time, I've had items covered a bit earlier than expected.

Actually up to 2016 model, warranty used to cover the brakes.
I had my 2013 M6 brakes replaced 4 times in 3 years with zero cost.
In 2017 they removed the brake coverage and reduced the warranty from 4 years/50k to 3 years/36k.
Looks like his car is 2014.

This is good to know. I just purchased the BMW extended service contract. I assumed brakes weren't covered at all so I didn't ask about them. Yes I have a '14 model.
