If it is a BMW part...it will have either the BMW 11 digit BMW part nbr or the last 7 digits of the part nbr on it somewhere. Turn it over and look for a BMW part nbr. You can then use one of the online part database sites to figure out what it is. Or simply type "[b]BMW xx xx x xxx xxx[b]" into a google search box (where x=the actual bmw part nbrs).
If it is an aftermarket part...it looks like it is CF (carbon fiber) on one side. If that's true...CF is usually used on a visible surface...so if we follow that train of thought...look around your car and check if a CF part has fallen off. I also see some screws still in the part...so look for something that has the same number of holes that secures the part to your car. The part also looks like it would fit across the width of the vehicle. So look for a place that would accept a CF piece that would run across the width of the car and use screws to secure it to the body (ie front lip?).
