Hello all

Just wanted to introduce myself. I am about to purchase a 2015 640 gc. Anything I should know about? It's a cpo with 39k. Msport xdrive for $39500. Should be picking her up this weekend. I am coming from a 2011 f10 msport and love beemers. I picked up a bunch of info from the f10 forum and am looking forward to sharing and receiving info from you guys.

Hey bud , I'm actually selling the exact same car but with much lower mileage( just hit 30k miles) for the same price you're paying for 10k more miles . Private message me if you're interested .

Good luck either way

hmm interesting. You'll feel the interior will be a major upgrade over the F10. But overall driving feeling will probably be the same as you're sticking to basically the same engine. Obviously the 6 GC is a stupid gorgeous looking car, so that's a major upgrade.

Congrats and enjoy. Given the same motor and transmission, and familiarity with BMW's F generation cars, you shouldn't expect anything different than from you F10 experience.

I disagree with above poster . The f06 is a completely diff drive than the f10 even if both m sport . I had the f10 m sport and the 6 series f06 is like night and day difference .

such as....?

Plus I was more generally saying the ownership experience would be the same in terms of cost, reliability, familiarity with servicing etc

Interesting comment...I'm curious as to "how", too. Can you go into any details and enumerate a little bit more about this "night & day" differences you have about each platform?

Again, just curious as to your thoughts...not a knock or put down.

For that price or a couple of grand more you could be in a 2015 650 with similar miles. But if you choose that car, congratulations. Whichever one you pick, they are phenomenal cars and you will enjoy it.

I'm too lazy to type out all the differences in my old f10 and the f06 I'm in but I just enjoy the f06 that much more . And yes in terms of ownership in general cars are similar . The biggest difference I feel personally is how low the 6 series drives compared to the 5. Also I switched out the run flats on the 6 to the all season non run flats and it's made my right so much lighter and more adaptive . I also feel like there's a much stiffer suspension on the 6 but it may just be me. I also enjoy the exhaust tone ( even though it may not be a big difference ) but it's a better feeling

Thanks fellas. I appreciate the welcome. The only reason I picked the 640 over the 650 is because I plan on keeping her for at least the next 5 years and Ive heard from a few BMW mechanics at the dealership that they still havent gotten the 8 cylinders right yet, and that there are still issues that need to be tweaked and to go 640 or m6 in regards to bulletproof motors. The M6 is out of my budget.

Personally I have not tried the 640 but have had my F06 for just over a month now. Coming from E92 and F32 (the latter which I still drive) it's night and day difference in many respects. I love everything thus far and cannot find it any defects! 2nd thought I have one major letdown: it doesn't feature a power trunk!!
For the rest really my 1-month impression is great and I love every inch of it, inside and outside both when looking at it as well as while driving it.

It's been 2weeks for me and I love it. Night and day from my F10. the only negative is the non fully functional sunroof.

I love my Alcantara roof, but still miss a good old working sunroof.
